    Baseball Bates Selected in Ninth Round of 2021 MLB Draft

    RUSTON, La. – After capping off a sensational career with an All-America senior season in 2021, Louisiana Tech centerfielder Parker Bates became the 75th Bulldog in program history selected in the Major League Baseball Draft on Monday afternoon.

    Interesting stat that LA Tech has had 75 players selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.

    The LA Tech football team has had 76 players drafted in the NFL.

    From what I read the MLB draft was shortened in 2020 to 5 round to cut cost, but is set for 20 rounds this year. Wonder if it eventually returns to 40 rounds when all is back to full minor league seasons.

    What are the chances that Wells gets drafted today?

    No it will not. Will be 20-25 rounds. Probably closer to the 20. MLB cut 43 MiLB clubs and added 3 Indy ones to make it 120 total now. There is talk about less rounds than 20 but I don't see it happening.
