    Texas and OU to SEC?

Will it happen, and what would that mean for us, if anything?

I’ve only caught bits and pieces, but did I read that Arkansas and Mizzou would be going to the Big11 in this scenario? What’s in it for them? I don’t buy the competitive talk…college sports is about money.

The Baylor board doesn’t say anything about that. They are guessing Mizzou, Ark., and T A&M vote no. They’d need one more no to block it.

Thanks. I knew something smelled off with that. It’d be a big win for the SEC. If it means anything to us, it’ll be because the Big11 raids the AAC for replacements.

it would be 16 in the SEC and then the shuffling could start.

Houston and Memphis make sense. Will UCF go for that kind of travel? Will they go to 12, 14, 16? Hope VPAD has some solid connections somewhere.

Things certainly change, but Oliver Luck tried to get WVU in the ACC the last time. The ACC doesn't want WVU's academics. Luck knew WVU didn't fit in the Big 12 and it would be the first power conference raided, but it was his only option. But things change, so we will see.

If I were the Big 12, I’d add 4. Memphis, Houston, Boise and a travel partner for them (try for BYU…settle for someone else)

This means the BigXII will be down to 8 teams. A decent conference with the members left- better than Big East pre-2011. So they will continue to be a power conference. However they will probably want to create separation between them and the G5, the MWC and AAC especially. They will go after BYU, Boise, and Colorado St. from the West and/or Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, and UCF from the AAC. Not all of those will be invited, but it definitely will be out of those. It all depends on how much they want to expand, to 10, 12 or 14.

Whatever way they take, CUSA will lose a member. If the MWC is raided, expect UTEP to be gone, possibly other Texas schools depending on how many they want. If the AAC is raided, they may stay by at 10 if only one is taken. If it's Houston, Rice will get an invite to stay in Texas and keep Navy recruiting happy.

I know the Big12 was looking for east coast market, but the WV thing never made sense.

I still get them and VaTech confused.

This is starting to look real. Oh the dominoes...

Do the other conferences Big 10, ACC, Pac 12 look to go to 12? does the Big 12 poach AAC or vice versa? Do we stand at?

I saw 1 interesting speculation where they would end up with a Power 4 with 16 each.

Re: Texas and OU to SEC?

If the 8-member Big XII raids the AAC of Houston, Memphis, UCF & Cincinnati, I fully expect the AAC to replenish 4 spots with most likely 2 --but possibly 4 schools-- from CUSA. They'll pick either 2 or 4 from the list of Rice, UAB, LA Tech, Marshall & Southern Miss. The AAC's top choices are probably Rice (academics) & UAB, who does something we never do --they win championships. UAB probably has the best facilities in CUSA; UAB just finished building a brand new 47K seat football stadium (Protective Stadium) that was just competed for this season.
