Now I'm not saying I believe all this stuff, BUT....the theory floating around college football this week is that the remaining Big XII schools BADLY need a footprint inside the state of Louisiana for recruiting purposes. As we all know, Louisiana is very fertile recruiting ground for many P5 schools, and without it, the Big XII is concerned they get shut out there.
Or something like that.
Whether or not it's true at least CUSA members are not actively trying to cause issues for the Big 12. I do wonder if the Big 12 wants to invite AAC schools that were conspiring with ESPN to break up their conference.
Here's more about what's going on in Lawrence:
Kansas to Big Ten may be 'imminent,' according to insider
Ari Temkin of SiriusXM's Big 12 Radio said earlier today that Mike Vernon has been reliable source in the past and has broken a lot of Kansas stories. He's basically the person other journalists go to for Kansas basketball info.
I didn't take it as tongue and cheek. I think there is a real possibility ONLY IF we lead the way pushing for it. It may end up being a glorified AAC by the time all is said and done, but we need to be in that group. We need to push and push hard. The AAC is next choice, but will be watered down with some teams going to the B12. Whatever happens, we will be left behind if we are not leading the charge and trying our best!
As much as I hate it...we may need to work with ULL on this one!
I tend to believe we are FCS in the minds of all these P5 conferences, and any thought of us being seriously considered for a spot in a P5 conference at this time is a pipe dream.
There was a time in the past when, arguably, P5 schools might have feared putting us on their schedules, but that isn’t really the case at this time. It was more due to the potential embarrassment of losing to a “peon”. They have never thought we were worthy enough to be at their level.
It will take proactive steps and a borderline miracle to join a P5. I do believe in miracles, but not so much in LA Tech proactivity.
I don't get all this negativity aimed at our leadership. Guise, "who gets it" is prez, not that bozo Reneau (according to some), and now we have Dr. Who (can't remember his name) as AD, an apparent all-knowing, Godsend of an AD. Surely this Dynamic Duo is (are?) doing everything possible to get us into a P5 conference, and having a measure of success too!
Murphy was being tongue-in-cheek. The items he posted were various tweets that have been posted in the last few weeks. The Tech/ULL quote was posted by some Michigan reporter the first few days after UT/OU rumblings began.
