LA Tech - 4th Best Football Coaching job in CUSA?

This is an old article from 2016 from Underdog Dynasty, but I don't recall seeing it. I think most of the facts are still true today. However, UAB has certainly come on strong in CUSA West since that time, and some of the other jobs --namely UTSA and UNT in the West, plus Charlotte and FAU in the East-- are probably much better jobs by now.

    From the article.

"As long as La Tech remains in CUSA West a coach will inherent one of the more easier paths to a conference title." Opps.

"The only program in CUSA West that can compare historically is rival Southern Miss. Beat them and you should be in the CUSA Championship Game just about every year." Opps again.

"Several coaches over the past ten years have been able to parlay this position into great jobs." Two Head coaches who failed in those great jobs and were fired in three or four years.

Then he takes a shot at our fanbase. "As much tradition La Tech boasts the perception around CUSA is that the fan base is pretty tame."

Might be the fourth best job though. Little in terms of expectation. Enjoyed the article, thanks for posting.

I think this article was a good representation of where we were 5 years ago vs today.

    - In 2016, UAB wasn't even playing football. Yet, for the last 3-4 years they've owned CUSA West, winning two CUSA titles, and one CUSA West Division title.
    - In 2020, we saw the rise of UTSA. They were not even mentioned in the article 5 yrs ago.
    - Despite pouring almost $80 million into new athletic facilities on the LA Tech campus in the last 5 years, none of our coaches have been able to deliver a CUSA title. That needs to change.

I understood exactly what you were doing when you posted it, and you are right. We are always the bridesmaid (if we're lucky) and never the bride. This should be a win or else year for Skip, but it won't be. He's had more than enough opportunities to deliver.

That's because you've got the causality backwards. Fancy facilities are a result of winning, not a contributor.

But yall aint ready to hear that ...
