For the Love of "Compete" , please find a new word to use besides "compete" in these news bot stories. You writers used "compete" --a key word-- 3 times in the title and the first two paragraphs of this story.
At the college level, compete should be a given. If a player or team don't compete, then they should not be seeing the field.
"Win", "played well", or "played poorly" are the only words I want to hear from a coach. Competing doesn't specify how a team or player played and also doesn't specify a result.
Pretty excited about this year's team with Austin Kendall and a very deep roster of RBs. Also, I think we will see a big difference in Dave "Guge" DeGuglielmo's Oline vs Robert McFarland. Skip got a lot of upgrades.

You are correct. The more I look at the personnel on this 2021 team --especially with the new transfers and returning players included--- the more excited I get. Defensively we're going to be better than solid. We should be very good on defense.
Offensively, we couldn't move the football last year at all. Our running game last year was the worst it has been in over a decade. For example, we only had 3 RB's on the roster and Justin Henderson's production fell from 1,062 yds rushing in 2019 to only 252 yds in 2020. And that was the story of our season. BUT, this year we SHOULD be much better at the QB position, and WE ARE LOADED AT RB. We should have fresh legs at RB on every down this season. Our offensive stats should improve greatly this season.....unless Holtz manages to screw up the play calling.
Looking back at 2020, I don't know how we won 5 games last year, beat UAB and made it to the NO Bowl. It was a miracle. We had NO firepower offensively last season.
Biggest question is the OL. Don’t see how it could be worse…but that feels like tempting fate.

Well, Tech has recruited 7 new OL men, 4 are upperclassmen transfers , and 3 HS signees. That, plus the addition to new Offensive Line Coach Dave DeGuglielmo, should provide help and stability in our 2021 OL. DeGuglielmo brings 29 yrs of coaching experience, including 16 yrs in the NFL, to the Bulldogs OL in 2021. DeGuglielmo also has two Super Bowl rings he won with the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.
Tech has 3 OL starters returning from 2020; Juniors Joshua Mote and Abraham Delfin, and Redshirt Freshman Walker Hankinson. Mote started all 10 games at LG last season while Delfin started all 10 games at RG. Both were ALL CUSA Honorable Mentions. Hankinson made 5 starts at RT in 2020.
The new OL transfers:
Chris Fournier, 6'4, 290, OL - 5th Yr Grad Student. Appeared in 31 games, including 27 starts at Lehigh from 2017 thru 2020.
Samuel Williams, 6'7, 275, OT - Transfer from ULM, where he appeared in 33 games for ULM, including 16 starts at RT, 8 in 2020. This may solve our RT problem.
Kellton Holllins, 6'2, 291, C/G - Transfer from TCU. 5th Yr guy who appeared in 23 games and started 12, 11 starts at Center. This should be our new center in 2021.
DeMarcus Gordon, 6'5, 320, Earned 2nd Team All conference at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 2020
Tech also has 7 other returning letter winners in the OL in 2021, in addition to 3 new High school recruit arrivals. One of those new HS arrivals --Carson Bruno-- is supposed to be a real stud. Bruno is 6'4, 300, and was a 1st Team Class 5A All-State player at C.E. Byrd HS in Shreveport.
In all, Tech has 18 players vying for these 5 spots in the 2021 OL.
