Maybe the job is Austin Kendall's to lose??? If he does a good job in camp, he is QB1. If one of the other QBs really shows out, then you've got to go with the better option. I really believe Kendall will start the season as QB1.
Of course it is, but it might hurt somebody's feelings to announce this early.
Several think it's ridiculous to suggest that our HC should be selling tickets. The above is a prime example of how to string our your fan base, not engage them. I stopped reading these reports the same time I stopped reading BS articles in TNS and Times.
Do y'all not remember this same dance with Sokol and Driskel?
Higgins was reported to be pushing them both years, but everyone knew who would start (at least with Driskel).
I think what we're doing here is the normal way to handle this - it is technically an open competition, and I'm sure sometimes the big name transfer does fall apart or something, but in most cases they win the job just like everyone always knew they would.
Maybe in this specific situation fans would be more excited to hear "this new QB is so much better, thank God he's here" but I'm not sure that's really good for any of our QBs. Make the new starter work for it some, give the younger guys some hope that they can win the job (while they're really fighting for the backup role).
But yeah, of course the transfer starts.

I think this fan base is asleep. Waiting on the head coach to give them something to be excited about.
A journeyman qb isn’t going to do it preseason.
Competing in practice is fine. If someone doesn't compete there, they shouldn't see the field in a game.Compete
It's in games where competing can't be the acceptable standard. Succeeding must be the standard there.
