Isn’t recruiting part of “coaching” at this level?

Most recent line I saw was 22.5. Is a team that finished 3-7 last year really 3 scores better than us?
But with the Cowboys it is as much or more the GM and his overblown ego than it is a coaching issue, even though the coaching hasn't been great.
With the quality of the Mississippi State defense, trying to call a vanilla game puts too much pressure on the Tech defense to have a realistic chance to win.
Well last year we were 5-5 in the absolute worst conference in America. In our last game we were 5 touchdowns worse than the 4th or 5th best team in the SBC. The 3-7 team we are playing is an SEC team coached by one of the best and most innovative minds in all of college football. The guy calling plays for us tomorrow was once demoted as offensive coordinator and play caller by his own father. So, we may not be 22.5 points worse, but you can understand why Vegas thinks we might be.
We will prove Vegas right if we run our -87 yard play again like last time against MSU.
Does anyone know how much $$$ we are getting for going to Starkville? I just heard on FS1 that ULL, Louisiana, or whatever you want to call them is getting 1.5 Million dollars to make the trip to Austin this weekend.
ETA: That's more than most of the bowl tie ends that we participate in.. Double the Frisco Bowl payout..
This may be the return game for the last game in Ruston. I lost track.
I think we are down to receiving expenses for this game. A few hundred thousand maybe. Definitely not over $500k.
1.5 has become the norm, but nobody told our former AD. He was still selling us for under 1M when he finally got a ticket out. See the Baylor deal, which is THE worst deal we've ever been involved in.
The end result shows in ticket sales. All those years of bowl wins/appearances and attendance has steadily decreased. IMO, the main reason is the product on the field. The product is not fun to watch.
A win in Starkville might change my mind, but "competing" in Starkville w/out the win is a big nothing.
I am going to be completely honest about this. I have NO idea what to expect today. The new QB and other transfers might deliver. We might even when a close one or we might get completely blown out of the stadium. I don't think any of us know.... Has M State had time to really build something in a year? Not sure.... I just have no clue on how good or bad we are yet.
I think you hit the nail right on the head. Most of us probably feel the exact same way, I know I do. Our QB was a sales trainee a couple of months ago, we have so many new starters and new players, who knows? But being we are 0-0 and tied for first in the conference I am optimistic.
That play doesn't happen if our QB had just kept his eye on the snap and simply CAUGHT IT! Then he had a chance to jump on it for a mere 20 yard loss but he couldn't manage to do even that.
Well...they say there is no bad PR! That play lives on several YouTube collections as "the craziest plays ever." So, we have that going for us. BTW, kudos to C. J. Powell for his hustle on that play.
Really enjoyed that Charlotte game! That is what college football is supposed to look like. And! Charlotte has a regular season win over a P5 too. Hmm....why is that stat significant?
Now...ODU. Well, it is better to cancel your whole season and have people think you suck than it is to actually play and remove all doubt.
Well, it's game day and I have on my "eternal optimist" persona, I am channeling Champion110. Go Dawgs, beat Moo State!
