I just read in the Dallas Morning News that the Hail Mary is practiced every day at SMU. The "tipped" ball was designed. They practice batting the ball volleyball style away from the masses to an outlying player. That's exactly what they did and it worked.

Doesn't take a genius to design something like that. I would say it's more a sign of SOME coaching going on at SMU, in contrast to what is going on (not) at Tech.

Yep, That is a sign of average coaching. You always prep for those situations, some coaches do it on specific days during practice, some may finish every practice with those types of drills because they are more fun etc. Great coaching wouldn't have Holtz ahead of him..... sorry again just adequate coaches wouldn't have Holtz in the lead.

Prepping for those special situations is something everyone does in every sport. It's just being prepared.
