I don't even know if CUSA can remain an FBS conference long enough to collect the Exit Fee checks. They've already lost 6 schools, and now we're hearing USM, Marshall, and ODU from CUSA, are headed for the Belt, along with JMU. That only leaves 5 schools --including Tech-- in CUSA. Furthermore, with JMU off the table that only leaves Liberty to TRY to recruit for membership. Assuming we succeed, that will take CUSA to 6 schools. Doesn't a conference have to maintain 7 members to remain an FBS conference?
Hello NMSU.
The six schools who have officially accepted an invite from the AAC should pony up exit fees immediately. They are good as gone already. Pay your exit fees and get $ZERO from conference revenues for the next two years as well. Same would be true for any other schools leaving for elsewhere.
And for God's sake, Hello! CUSA presidents, effing fire Judy yesterday!
Guice's legacy started in July 2013 with the disastrous AD hire as the first major move of his tenure. Not firing that AD as part of the Summitt scandal was a second major mistake. And things have just been compounded from there.
Time for Guice to announce that he is stepping down June 30 next year so new blood can be brought in.
C-USA needs to do two things:
1) Fire Judy yesterday as has already been posted.
2) Move all awarded C-USA championship events scheduled after January 1 away from schools who are leaving the conference. For next spring that would include moving baseball away from USM.
So, the answer to the OP is…….yes
Yes! After CUSA’s announcement of being nothing much more than an elevated FCS conference, Guice should resign. He doesn’t have the vision for Tech to be all it can be. Besides that he supports bad hires and terrible contracts. I’m really wondering what executive, business decision making skills he has.
