Scheduling in Shreveport means nothing to the local businesses. Let Shreveport fend for itself. What’s our should be ours.

Have to make it fun for current students and the kids of young/middle aged alumni. Let the current students cut loose in Hideaway park and build a damn playground/field for kids to play on during the games. It wouldn’t cost near as much as most of our previous facility upgrades and would produce lifelong fans.
Wait, wait. I thought we wanted to appeal to Shreveport? Ruston’s businesses may not like losing out on one game. But the idea behind having a game in Shreveport is to give them a chance to see Tech in their backyard, host a larger crowd, and ideally have a good opponent.
This doesnt have to be a yearly thing. We could schedule a big opponent game over there every other year or so. Strive for 7 “home” games in those years, where we still have 6 true home games.

So 75 miles is too great a distance to draw a Shreveport fan to a game against A&M,MS. State, OK State? At least they wouldn’t have to worry about there car getting broke into or getting shot after dark at The Joe
Sometimes you have to bring the product to your target audience to draw them in to where you want. We also seat sub-28K. If the opponent and Tech are both having decent success, we’d need a larger stadium.
Mississippi State works in Ruston, Shreveport would be an hour further drive for their fans.
The idea is invest in Shreveport if we need a “market” so that we can then have a BETTER product to sell in Ruston. Nobody’s winning (especially not Ruston businesses) for Tech to miss out on better conference opportunities.
I am not a fan of games in Shreveport. That being said, I would be okay with 1 every 3 years as long as it’s a Big12 or SEC opponent. I want to see us with a full stadium in Ruston for a big game. If we always move the big game to Shreveport to gain 5,000 fans(mostly for the opponent) is it worth it? It would be helpful to know how many of our graduates live in Shreveport and don’t drive to Ruston on games at but they would go to a game over there. How many casual football fans will pay to see us play instead of waiting for the lsu game to come on the tv?
