CONGRATS to Tech's "holdover coaches" Brock Hays, Anthony Camp, Sherman Wilson, Paul Turner and Teddy Veal for keeping all of LA Tech's commits thru this coaching transition. And look at the "skill players" they signed...... Five (5) big WR's and the state of Louisiana's "Gatorade Player of the Year", QB Landry Lyddy. WOW! Just WOW!"A lot of these guys were recruited by the previous staff," said Cumbie. "The first thing was to secure those guys and make those guys feel comfortable. Sherman Wilson and our recruiting department and Coach (Anthony) Camp and Coach (Brock) Hays and some of the other coaches – coach (Paul) Turner and Coach Teddy (Veal) – they did a nice job of communication during the transition. It's always hard. Change can be difficult. We just wanted to build those relationships as fast as we could."
(FYI....this article incorrectly states that Tech signed "4 Wide Receivers", and then proceeds to name 5 WR's that were actually signed: Cyrus Allen, Zyion Claville, Keshlon Jackson, O'Ryan James and Kendrick Rucker.)
Do you think there's any question about LA Tech running a wide open offense under Sonny Cumbie?
Great job, coaches.
I think you're right. But 247 lists Rucker (6'5, 200) as a Wide Receiver. I love his size and big play ability.

Side note, I hadn’t really thought about how many former players we have directly connected to the program in some way. Coaches, sideline reporters, and I’m sure other. It’s great!
Class looking better and better.
Not surprising to see Texas Tech transfers and Navarro jucos coming on-board. Quiet around here for a signing day.
I'm excited about some of these OL signees. A position of need for us, for sure.
Seems like a good class, especially with a relatively short turn-around for this staff. I liked the holdover guys helping us hold on to most of the early signing day group and it looks like we've added a lot for this later signing date as well. I can't wait to see how next year's class turns out with a full year for the current staff to recruit. Lot of good high school ties in this group, lots of East Texas ties. I'm optimistic about our recruiting.
We've recruited what looks to be a heck of a class on the offensive side of the ball, but we only have 4 commits (2 signees) on defense. I guess it's not as concerning if you're planning to put up 50 points a game, but someone's gotta play out there.
Our defense should be much improved if our offense can put up points and stay on the field longer than 3 and out, 3 and out, 50 yard field goal.
Did the Locke kid end up at OU?
