It's a win in El Paso. No injuries. We got some good production from our bench players. Got to keep those legs fresh. Still a lot of basketball ahead of us.

jamal "the enemy" nearly took us single-handed, but cobe did a great job of shutting down boum.
we've got to get better at making a clean pass into the paint when teams are playing aggressive on the perimeter. that may be the first time this season a team has done that to us, as they are typically focused on stopping junior. every time a defense plays us like that it should result in a lofton dunk.
Now on to playing San Antonio High, I mean UTSA.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Louisiana Tech picked up its fourth straight win late Thursday night with a hard-fought 64-52 victory over UTEP inside the Don Haskins Center.

Williams and Archibald were combined 9 for 9 from the FT line. That's how ya do it! Since they have the ball in their hands so much they will get fouled and they have to deliver points from the line. Well done.
Lofton needs to let the game come to him. Looks like he is pressing, trying too hard. Just relax and play your game. The points will come.
WTG Dawgs! Conference road wins are huge.
Seemed that all of our guys had difficulties catching and handling the ball. It was like the ball was slippery. That's not a good problem when the other team is pressuring the ball on the perimeter and overplaying everything. We needed more backdoor cuts and passes to the goal (besides Junior) to back them off. Because our guards were able to beat them one-on-one along with our transition offense and their inability to hit open shots (besides the one guy), we got up on them big. A road win is a big win, but they made us look ugly.
Have you considered those Dogs?
I noticed early on that Cobe had difficulty handling it and Junior couldn't catch it cleanly. We had multiple unforced turnovers where we just lost the ball. Then Junior had difficulty gripping it all night, couldn't catch it or rebound it cleanly and had a couple slip out as he was shooting. Something was up for sure.

Let's see if our ball handling gets better at UTSA, they use adidas balls.
At home we use Wilson NCAA Solution (official game ball of NCAA and NIT tournament).
Any win at UTEP is a good win -
They make you play ugly and typical force 4 to 5 turnovers more per game than you usually avg
Also have to remember they are playing at altitude at 3,800 ft
I thought we played well - even though Jr struggled with the ball and scoring he still had 18? rebounds
Cobe is the straw that stirs this drink, once he settled down he took over and stretched the lead
Archibald probably played his worse game of the year - he was a turnover machine and played poor defense
Stewart may have played his best game and had several big threes
Kenny Hunter continues to grow and contribute valuable minutes
If Crawford was healthy we could put him a Jr in the game at the same time - without Crawford we have to have Hunter to spell Jr cause Thomas just doesn't appear to have the game to contribute valuable minutes at this level
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Yep...Jr. had 11 points and 18 rebounds and we call that a down game for him?!
