    Do you guys who keep saying this have some inside info, or is this just hope/speculation based on the number of QBs in the portal and looking at what we've got on the roster?

    Any of you local guys see him play in HS? Did he seem more like an FBS QB than FCS where he ended up?

    Did our new coach recruit these new names and we still don’t think one of them could be next years QB? Should we be worried about coach already?

    Don't minimize hope and speculation! It's why fan boards exist!

    No real inside info, just the acknowledgment that what we have is not enough. Pair that with the many options in the portal and I feel pretty confident that we're gonna get a more experienced guy who will be this year's starter. I don't know if Lyddy is the long term answer or not, but I feel very confident he's not the short term answer. I guess it's possible that the TCU kid could be an upgrade over what we've had the past 2 years, but I'm betting we'll see at least one more QB brought in by the Spring.

    He did not play up to his billing in HS. He had some growing to do and hopefully he did that over the past two years.

    IDK who recruited them. I'm not worried after having been stressed for the past 9 years.

    Guys,
    Do we not think that Caleb Holstein is ready to be a starter?

    Thanks. I hope so.

    My Ruston High wife will have to work to support a Nevillian (Nevilletonian? Nevilleperson? Neville High grad) but I hold no such prejudices (well, not directly, obviously I share her rivalries indirectly). I'm with you on hoping the last two years have been awesome for him developmentally.

    Word is that his private coach messed up his throwing motion and he's not be right since. If he couldn't get any PT in 2021, I'm not optimistic that he'll see the field in any meaningful way in 2022.

    Brister had a 175.6 QB rating at Northern Colorado. Of course he only played in 1 game, but he did complete the only pass he threw. It looks like he was the 4th string QB. Perhaps it was because he was a freshman. https://uncbears.com/sports/football...ffense-passing

    What do our QBs do in the off season? Do they get private lessons or go to camps to get better?

    Dang. That's not good. I had hopes for him out of high school, seemed like a good get at the time.

    Caleb = Ensminger.

    Great promise, just never translated on the field. Probably a high Football IQ.

    BTW, I heard Ensminger is coaching at Ruston High.
