Here is an interesting story about "money games".

Think I saw where we are getting only $500,000 for playing Missouri. Oh well it's only money.
It also highlights the privilege SEC schools assume for themselves. "Having 3 road games in September is very un-SEC-like, unacceptable..." Mizzou officials said. They also dissed MTSU in their comments.
And on top of that we are getting $500K...wow. FCS schools with high-stepping bands command more payment than that. Of course, winning cures a lot of woes.
Go Dawgs!
I thought we were getting the discounted 2-for-1 deal for one of those games (you know, way down in the 500K range or something) and then for the other we were getting a home game.
When Waco game #1 was cancelled, I had assumed it was the (discounted) money game and the other two games would just be the wash they were always going to be.
We gave up a one-for-one (with a desirable opponent, even if probably a little tougher one than you'd want for game one with a new coach and in the same year you have to travel to Clemson) for a pretty small payout road game (against a much weaker opponent, but it's still an SEC team on the road).
If Missouri was so desperate to not play @MTSU, you'd think we could have got more out of them.
Not if one is trying to ingratiate himself to prospective employers in the profession as a "go along to get along" amiable type of chap.
Mizzu: We're prepared to offer you $1.5MM
TMac: How about let's make it $500K and you tell all the other P5 ADs how great it is to work with me?
Even if they were not desperate $500k is a joke. Ran into a Tech grad today, we talked about the game. I said well nobody knows what we really have. We might be great, we might be horrible. Nobody really knows. I think we will cover the 20.5. He said something about a big check. I asked what do you think we will get. He said at least 7 figures.
