Breyer is liberal, so worst case will be exchanging one lib for another. Maybe McConnell can delay/block the appointment until the GOP takes control of the Senate next January. Not likely. That's a full year and Mitch MC is married to Senate traditions and would not pull some stunt. So, our best hope is that Manchin/Sinema will insist on a moderate appointee rather than a raving looney lib.

This is a clear signal that the Dimms are conceding the Senate will be lost in November.

If FJB wants to nominate another mental giant (not!) like Sotomayor, I would confirm them now. That type of justice is a nuisance but will become no more than a footnote in history.

I totally agree that a left wingnut nominee would likely have an easier path with RINOS like Murkowski, Romney, and Collins than they would have with Manchin and Sinema at this point.

Will a nominee who is even further left motivate Roberts to return to the middle?

Or just follow the Constitution like he's supposed to do.

    His logic has been baffling.

There are 8 Dem senators in a red or purple state and all of them have to consider their own reelection prospects when voting to confirm a SC justice. Already the Left has offered a half-dozen black women as candidates for the SC. Well, if being a black female is the only requirement, or THE determining factor, I would like to see someone like Candace Owens nominated for the SC. Or, a black woman with her political leanings.

Also, Candace has common sense which in my view makes her more qualified than most people on the bench today.

EVERYTHING is a few degrees of separation to the bad old orange man for the shallow thinkers.

The dims could nominate Xi for the supreme court and the weak-minded RINOs would gladly vote yes (and then blame Trump for their vote). He'd get at least 20 repub votes because that's what they do! The senator from SC would carry the water for them, proclaiming that they deserve whatever they want.

No need to think deep on this one...it's right there on the surface. McConnell lowers the threshold to 51 and Trump loses the two GA senate seats.

Didn't realize Trump was running for Senate in Georgia.

Soooooo, given your cause and effect stuff, the nomination for any Supreme Court member should never make it out of committee because they are equally divided between dims and repubs (because the dims ganged up to vote against Trump's nominees). And.....we have at least two impeachment trials coming when the repubs take control bacause that is what the dims did?

So what has Biden done ( Since you despised Trump so much) to make things better for US citizens?
