As has been stated before, these games aren’t heartbreakers. These games are colossal collapses.

And UAB falls to Marshall.
Having seen both UAB and North Texas against Tech, I think North Texas is the better team. And that is now reflected in the C-USA West standings as North Texas is in outright 1st place at 8-1.
Marshall tried to give it away at the end, but the Herd hung on for dear life to beat UAB 84-81 in Huntington. Walker scored 23 for UAB but was only 3 of 13 from beyond the arc. UAB as a team was just 6 of 27 from 3.
Worst part is a talent like Lofton will miss the Dance
Unless he leaves, which he will.
Wimp H.C. =====> Wimp team ................ Always.
There is a lot of season left. Nothing matters but the tournament and we CAN beat any team in CUSA. We need to be working for seeding now. We are exactly 1 point from being in 1st place right now, but UAB, North Texas, and Tech are the best teams and any one of us could end up 1st by the time the regular season ends. The same for the conference tournament... We are mid-season, not at the end. This is going to be a tight fight at the top.
The problem I saw last night was that we lost our intensity when we got the big lead. We need to play fast the whole game - not slow down for clock. This team plays SO much better when we are playing fast - we slowed down and played their game at the exact time that we should have pushed the ball quicker to speed them up. They are solid (especially on defense), but overall I still believe we will be the toughest to beat in the tournament.
Also, going in as underdogs with revenge on our mind, will serve us well at UNT and UAB. THERE IS A LOT OF BASKETBALL LEFT!
One more thing that should tell us all something is that the UAB loss to Marshall shows that anyone can lose at anytime. UNT will lose another game (possibly 2). We have a good chance of beating both UAB and UNT when we go to their place - there is NOTHING that incentivizes a team more than revenge. We are in the 3 spot now, but those standing will change weekly. We just need to take the chip on our shoulder now and play it to our advantage. I don't know of better way to spark a team than a couple of losses, especially if the team does not let it deter them. It is all about energy now. I would much rather be #3 now than #3 at the end. There is a LOT of basketball left. No longer being the favorite can REALLY boost us.
Yeah, I am spinning it like I usually do. I was heartbroken last night, but I ALWAYS try to see the end. Where was UNT when they won the CUSA tournament last time?
Last week we lost because UAB is such a great team.
This week we lose because we lose because UNT is a great team?
Glad I didn't invest $75 in Ruston/EllAye Tech again this Saturday.
