RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech women's basketball game scheduled for Thursday against UTEP has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Miner's program.

UTEP should be forced to FORFEIT this game. This game should NOT be allowed to be "rescheduled" simply because UTEP can't get their act together. Screw that. Play the game with who you have available, or go home with a loss. I'm tired of watching LA Tech get screwed in the CUSA standings because Tech played more conference games than someone else, etc.... (It happened in men's regular season bb in 2021, and football in 2020.) This is the 3rd year these college athletic programs have had to deal with COVID. If the school can't handle it by now, fire the coach and get someone who can. Clear and distinct protocols should be in place by now that prevent this. We don't stop games for the flu. Or, if we do, they are forfeited.RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Tech women's basketball game scheduled for Thursday against UTEP has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns within the Miner's program.
Our commissioner has this figured out. You guys just sit back and watch.
Saturday game is cancelled as well.
That would suck. Last home game was Dec 10 (4 weeks ago), so even if we play USM at home on the 16th that'd be 5 weeks between ANY games in Ruston. After that 3 more road games: so at best one home game in 8 weeks. I was so looking forward to cheering for the Techsters.
Still a die-hard Techster fan!!
If we were in a more compact league, then we could shuffle the schedule on the fly, but a majority of games are flights, not gonna happen.
They should at least move Tech/USM to this week so we can try to get makeup games in those slots.
Unreal.
When are Men's games going to be impacted? Bound to happen.
The Saints set an NFL record for different starters used in a season.
Exactly! Obviously, the NFL is different with football having so many players and a whole practice squad and trades being possible, but the NCAA could implement this for basketball. If you have 5 healthy players, you play. If you don't have even 5 players, you forfeit - you don't cancel or postpone.
I took my high school soccer team on the road for a playoff game with just 8 players. We showed up and did our best and lost 5-2 playing 8 against 11 and they had subs for fresh legs. I was never so proud of 8 kids in my coaching career as I was that night. The opposing coach came over and spoke to my kids after the game and congratulated them "on one hell of an effort."
That is what amateur sports is all about!
Oh...but college sports is no longer amateur is it.
