I agree about not cancelling these games. Forfeit if you don't have 5 players ONLY! The NFL has this pretty much down with all the Saints players out this year. They had to play anyway - just with hardly any starters all year.
No cancellations - forfeit if you have less than 5 players available. If you have 5, you have to play.
The Saints set an NFL record for different starters used in a season.
Exactly! Obviously, the NFL is different with football having so many players and a whole practice squad and trades being possible, but the NCAA could implement this for basketball. If you have 5 healthy players, you play. If you don't have even 5 players, you forfeit - you don't cancel or postpone.
I took my high school soccer team on the road for a playoff game with just 8 players. We showed up and did our best and lost 5-2 playing 8 against 11 and they had subs for fresh legs. I was never so proud of 8 kids in my coaching career as I was that night. The opposing coach came over and spoke to my kids after the game and congratulated them "on one hell of an effort."
That is what amateur sports is all about!
Oh...but college sports is no longer amateur is it.

This will show us how far we have come (or not come). Two middle of the pack teams in the West - should be a good match-up.
UTEP is another "mirror image" team. Just about an identical record and fairing about the same against the same opponents. Like FIU I hope homecourt makes the difference tonight*. We really, really need to hold serve on our homecourt.
* we actually faired better than enjoying homecourt advantage vs. FIU. The Techsters played a solid game. Would have beaten FIU on a neutral floor too.
Right when you think we have things under control, bam! UTEP goes on a 10-0 run in less than 60 seconds. Blink and you missed a complete collapse. Still in the 3rd qtr...
End of 3rd Tech 57 UTEP 46
Turnovers and giving up a ton of offensive rebounds is keeping Miners in the game.
UTEP runs out of time, falls short 65-68.
That's the truth, just another 30 seconds or so and Tech loses. They had 15 offensive rebounds! FIFTEEN!
Stats show we had "only" 14 turnovers, seemed like more that. Probably because they occurred at critical times in the game.
The good...we hit 14/15 from the FT line, 93%.

UAB 5-4
UTEP 5-7
UNT 4-6
Rice 2-6
UTSA 2-9
Well we finished. Wasn’t pretty, but they finished. Something they couldnt do in some of those losses. If they did they could be more like 8-3!
Exactly! I was happy with just getting the W. We may end up winning the West, if we can keep improving (especially with consistency). The East is LOADED, though. Considering our start in conference play, though, I like what we have done over the past 4 weeks. I think this is 6 or the last 7 in the win column.
