Tech 83-79 FINAL
Tech 83-79 FINAL
I'll take it.
Bogus call on Lofton's 5th foul
Clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.
And yeah, their coach begging the refs to review that play just to get himself a tech was great. But every time he was in the frame he was whining.
Rice played a good strategy on offense and defense that almost stole a win. Their goofy coach may be one to watch.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Louisiana Tech picked up its 20th victory of the season and remained tied for second in the West Division standings after defeating Rice, 83-79, on Thursday night inside Tudor Fieldhouse.

This was a good win. Rice is very good on their home court and has proven that this year. We knew it would be a battle, but kept fighting. I am not even going to go into our mistakes - I am just glad we pulled this one out. It was one that worried me, as I believed they might catch us looking ahead to two HUGE games coming up. WTG DAWGS!!!!!
In the last 5 mins or so, until the very last two possessions, Rice scored on every possession, mostly wild 3s shot from NBA range, off-balance, with a defender in their face. Then there were the "and 1" drives and getting fouled too.
We were 16 of 21, 76% from the FT line and needed every one of those too.
Lofton had 7 turnovers, spends too much time whining and pouting, is a liability at the FT line (was only 0-1 last night...even though he was fouled several times while shooting, but no calls), and is becoming...well, less than a superstar. Hunter and Thomas need more PT and both of those guys better "find their game" before Frisco.
If Lofton didn't whine on every call including when he clearly isn't fouled or when he clearly does foul, he might get a few more calls to go his way. He is getting a reputation and not in a good way.
There were several bad calls that didn't go his way last night, but he can't let that seep into the rest of his game. He can't progress to the next level of his game until he cleans that up.
We need to have somebody cut to the basket when Junior gets doubled so he has another option. Teams have begun to jump his kick-outs because they know that's his tendency.
Have you considered those Dogs?
