So there could always be transfers in & out, but this is solid core, with only 1 senior, but lots of Experience.

    What 5 would you start?
    PG Cobe Kaleb
    SG Keaston Bradford
    PF Green
    SF Isaiah
    C Junior Hunter

Do we go big? I want David Green on the court, but do we have enough depth?

Re: The Future: 2022-23 Men's Basketball Roster

Green has to learn to defend before he will get a starting nod -

How sound is Crawford's knee? Does he trust it? Can he be the player he was in 2020-2021?

Bradford is a walking turnover machine right now, hopefully a year of maturity will help and he can slow his game down to play smarter and truly faster

Will Jr be back or will he listening to the noise around him?

And if he doesn't and comes back will he develop a hard nosed edge and not pout and gripe most of the game - can he learn to avoid the stupid fouls? Hussle fouls we can live with, the stupid fouls really limit his game when we need him most. Can he develop into the star to carry this team night in and night out like Milsap and Malone did their junior years while having a target fully planted on his back?

Willis could be our star next year - he carried us in 3 of the 4 tourney games. Can he take his game up a notch. To me he is best when drives and creates shots slashing to the basket and then works out to hit the set 3 ball

Cobe should have a break-out offensive year next year, can he cut his missed layups in half and increase his FT% to greater than 80%?

Will Hunter be the X factor - will he grow a 1/2 inch and add 20lbs of muscle? Will his game grow over the summer like it did over the last 1/2 of the season - if it does he could be a force to be reckoned with

Can Konkol break the 30 year curse? On paper this could be the best team to see the floor since the 1990-91 team. If everyone comes back he has to pieces to play fast and pressure the entire court or lock it down and play half-court shut down defense. On offense we should be able to play inside or outside with equal ease.

If Thomas leaves do we look in the portal or jc ranks for a true 7fter to pair with Jr and Crawford or do we look for a true pt or a sharp-shooter from three who can consistently bury the outside shot?

Agree with everything. We do need that extra sharp shooter for sure- if Thomas wants PT, he will likely need to leave. When one shooter is off, surely all will not be. Whether or not Jr. stays, and Crawford is back to his prior form will be key.

If Thomas leaves, we'll need a post player to replace him. Personally I hope he stays but would definitely understand if he doesn't.

Really? I’ve seen several Tech games where no one could hit the side of a barn.

Do we really have more than 1 that is a pure shooter? Our guards have made themselves better, but Willis is really the only one I think of that is pretty consistent. Maybe I'm wrong if I go study the stats, but that is the one I expect to make them anyway. A has gotten hot in games and made them, but that is a bonus, and Cobe has had games he hit several. There have been a lot of bricks thrown up there this year. I'd love to have the luxury of more than one shooter/scorer.

Willis had a record year in makes and % - he had one bad night and he was the one player responsible for us being in the finals

Oh I agree. But I've also seen some "Bigs" comparable schools are trotting out (talking about back-ups) and there's not alot of high level talent available. That includes UAB and North Texas.

    Flat lined...

MBB didn't improve one iota, in fact, one can argue the program regressed. That roster doesn't excite me, same ole same ole.

1/2 the roster was newcomers. We lost Crawford in game 3 (he average 16pt, 6 rebounds 1st 2 games). Freshman Will Allen was out with an injury all year.

I think if we can keep it together, next 2 years will be fun.

Early in the 2nd half I would have bet a dollar to a donut Willis was about to go on a streak, bury 4 in a row from the arc. Would have lost my $1. He is a good shooter. Funny thing is Coach John Calipari of Kentucky said, no shooter can make them all, just can't afford to miss 'em all. I thought of Willis when he said that.
