College sports has changed and leaves me even less interested in it than before. I remember when freshmen were ineligible, Lord how times have changed! Mostly, as a fan, this makes it impossible to hook our wagon to horses and follow that "horse" i.e. player through their college career. It's even worse than professional sports, hell even the NFL/NBA have some governance on free agency and players jumping ship. In college sports it's a free-for-all, anything goes! I foresee players changing teams (schools) in the middle of a basketball season. Starts with Whatsamatter U. then transfers to East Central A&M after the end of the fall semester and finishes that season at the new school. This should also END the concept of athletic scholarships, or drastically change the system.

Yes lol. Haha, maybe in another timeline that's what happened.

I need to retract this comment. He is going to wait to see who the new coach is.

Hopefully all of them wanting to transfer will wait and see who is hired and meet with them. We went through that with Konkol as well, it just wasn't as easy to go then.

Konkol ain’t Coach K, and we are losing two seniors who are with all due respect replaceable. The team that won 20+ and was 1 win short of dancing was almost entirely freshmen and sophomores. I’d say there’s a great chance we go dancing soon if we hire the right guy, add a piece or two, and avoid the dismantling of the team.

Correct. I'm more disturbed about losing Kenny Hunter to the transfer portal than I was about losing Junior. Most of us figured Junior was gone after this season anyway. Hunter however, had a big future ahead of him here at LA Tech.

BTW, I think Junior is simply using the "NBA" thingy as a pathway to get looked at by other big name schools. Junior won't be in the NBA next year. Rather, he'll be playing for Memphis, or Tulsa, or Houston, or some big name school from a big name conference.

Afraid I agree with you about Jr., don't think we will see him in a Tech uniform again. Hope we are both wrong. I hear some talk about Memphis, but would think he might like Houston better. Of course, a Big 12 school might be possible. Maybe even a sec school. Would eat my hat if he goes to Tulsa, I do not think that's where his head is.

Junior just wants a bigger stage.

Karl Malone built a bigger stage in Ruston. But then Junior is no Mailman.

I've seen Jr every time I've gone to Tech (one of our daughters is a student). I've seen him at baseball games, student recruitment events, or just around campus. He's never "big-timed" me or anybody else that I've noticed. If he doesn't get a high enough draft grade, I'll be surprised if he doesn't return. Seems like it's more than basketball to me.
    Have you considered those Dogs?

    Hopefully.

I want to be clear that I don't fault him at all for wanting that bigger stage (if that's what he's after). The business is pretty cutthroat these days.

We all want him to return, of course. I just would rather lose him to the NBA than lose him to another team.
