If Tech had won 4 of the last 6 instead of losing 4 of the last 6, its RPI would be around 18 right now. Even splitting those 6 would have the RPI at around 27.

Can't give away any more games like last night to stay in contention for even a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Gave up 8 in the 3rd inning of the 13-5 loss vs Tulane on February 27. Whorff started that game but he had no part of that 8 because he was pulled the inning before.

Fouts should have made a visit after the third hit of the inning made it 6-2. Whorff got a strikeout after the first single and then allowed three more hits before the Fouts visit. Young's error was next followed by a walk. No way that Whorff shouldn't have been pulled after the walk even with the tardy visit by Fouts.

If Fouts had visited when he should have, the hook could have come out after the fourth hit of the inning.

    Not exactly correct.

Based on RPI values of Friday's games right now (those values constantly decrease as more games in the season are played), Tech would lose 26 RPI points (1 point = .0001) by winning and would lose 121 points by losing.

The range of all direct and indirect impact results for Friday is from +47.8 points if Tech and all of its past opponents win to -204.8 points if Tech and all past opponents lose. HBU plays Nicholls and a HBU win helps Tech more than a Nicholls win.

+47.8 would move Tech to 29 and -204.8 would move Tech to 50. But all of those RPI values will change based on Friday's results as happens every day that games are played.

A 2 or 3 are basically the same thing. You still have to play each other. Just get there.

Dude, it’s not like Whorff has been getting people out in previous appearances. Should’ve been out after two hits. This loss is on Burroughs. Made all the worse because I was staying at the Hampton and so was ULL team and fans. An embarrassing defeat.

With a 5-run lead two hits would have been too quick a hook, especially with a strikeout thrown in. The third hit in the inning should have brought the visit from Fouts, and the fourth hit (third consecutive) should have been the hook while the lead was still 6-3.

Whorff is on the struggle-bus. Hoping he doesn't end up on the short-bus if his confidence gets so far lost.

It is getting to be a bit scary every time he is on the mound these days kind of like last season for a while when K. Griffen was put in relief.

Better too quick and win than too slow and lose, always.

This team will be lucky to make a regional.

If the current trend holds, which is likely, then I agree. However, if this group can overcome coaching or if Burroughs has an epiphany, then a regional is well within reach.

Not too quick considering who was pitching. Has he even had two consecutive innings this year without giving up runs?

Those stats are horrible, but they don't refute the answer to the question you asked.

Some free legal advice. Don't ask a question that you don't have at least a good idea of the answer if you are trying to argue a point.

Re: LA Tech Hosts In-State Foe UL-Lafayette For Two Midweek Contests

The bottom line and common denominator in Tech’s woes is Burroughs lack of game smarts and poor decision making. This primarily includes managing his pitchers and who he puts on the field and his DH. It’s inexplicable why Brantley ever bats and why Burchfield doesn’t. The team will only be as good as Burroughs limits his mistakes.
