    Remaining '89 bleachers at Joe Aillet?

    Can anyone confirm these are coming out with installation of the new video boards in the north end? Based on the renderings posted it sure seems like they have to. Kinda hoping they do as the stadium's been lop-sided since they removed the sections in the south end. I know we want to keep capacity above 25k or so, but there must be better ways to add this back in...

    From the the rendering, it is a definite yes.

    As far as adding additional seating in the future and with the north and south endzone occupied, I think demolishing the east side and rebuild would be the best way to go.

    Removing those will get us back to the original 23,000 excluding the 300 in SEZ and 100 or so in the suites. That will be plenty under current situation.

    It'll be a little bit more than 23K.

    We lost 500 seats or so when the chairbacks were put in in the late 70s/early 80s. Then when the push for IA came up in 87 and 88 an audit of the seats found that most seats were wider than what the NCAA standard was at the time. Some much wider. We also had uncounted seats. About 1,000 seats were added.

    Between 23,500 and 24,000 would be the final number.

    Pretty sad not much has changed in regards of our avg attendance. We need more growth around Lincoln parish and increased enrollment.

    Agree. I can’t see us ever really drawing more then 25k consistently and the NCAA no longer requires 30k seats…

    I’d rather see us spruce up the stadium with a nice red brick facade. The goal should not be to have the largest G5 stadium but we can have the nicest, and with the best amenities. The other thing we can offer that most don’t have is a real sense of football history.

    Isn't enrollment actually going down?

    After the last student vote - I don't think growing the student population is the answer

    Community growth - North LA, So Ark, East Tx, West Miss

    Basically our product is over priced by 20 to 25% both season ticket and single ticket

    Football - structure east side packages for 4 tickets 4 cokes and 4 dogs for $100, have an entire section that is $10 general admission

    Basketballs - do the same utilizing upper arena - $1 night twice a month on 500 seats and bring back GOOD halftime entertainment

    Baseball - there will be tickets available next year, I predict a 30% drop in renewals - the furthest section down the 3rd base line should not be sold as season tickets, entire section should be only available for purchase through the Tech ticket office on a per game basis for $12 a seat, rip the 500 tickets from the students in right field and make it $5 general admission on a per game basis

    Softball - $5 general admission, all season tickets should be $50 each and chairback

    Drive revenue through repeat attendance

    Too many options these days fighting for the scarce entertainment $$ in our market, got to think outside the box

    And don't tell me the NCAA requires X dollar amounts or disallows discounts - the university controls the price stratification based on quality of seats

    Re: Remaining '89 bleachers at Joe Aillet?

    Attendance only matters for NCAA classification in football. Here are the current guidelines:

    20.9.9.3 Football-Attendance Requirements. [FBS] Once every two years on a rolling basis, the institution shall average at least 15,000 in actual or paid attendance for all home football games. (Revised: 4/25/02 effective 8/1/04, 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)

    20.9.9.3.1 Counting Attendance. [FBS]

    20.9.9.3.1.1 Actual Attendance. [FBS] For purposes of computing actual attendance figures, an individual may be counted if any one of the following conditions applies: (Revised: 4/25/02 effective 8/1/04, 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)
    (a) Attendees are issued tickets that are collected on admission to the game and retained;
    (b) Attendees enter through and are counted by a turnstile that is monitored by a representative of the department of athletics who verifies in writing the accuracy of the count on a per-game basis; or
    (c) Attendees enter through a gate at which a representative of the department of athletics counts them individually with a manual counter, and the representative provides a written statement verifying the accuracy of the count on a per-game basis.

    20.9.9.3.1.2 Paid Attendance. [FBS] For purposes of computing paid attendance figures, tickets must be sold for at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price as established prior to the season, regardless of whether they are used for admission. Tickets sold at less than one-third of the highest regular established price may be counted as paid attendance only if they are used for admission. Student attendance may be counted as paid attendance if the student pays at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price or, if the student actually attends the game and any one of the following conditions applies: (Adopted: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)
    (a) The student paid an athletics fee;
    (b) The student paid an institutional fee of which a certain portion was allocated to the department of intercollegiate athletics; or
    (c) The student paid no athletics fee, but the institution allocated to the department of intercollegiate athletics a certain portion of tuition income or general operating funds as the equivalent of a student athletics fee.

    20.9.9.3.1.2.1 Student Attendance. [FBS] Student attendance must be verified through one of the following methods: (Adopted: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)
    (a) Such students are issued tickets that are collected on admission to the game and retained;
    (b) Such students enter through and are counted by a turnstile (which is not used by others in attendance) that is monitored by a representative of the department of athletics who verifies in writing the accuracy of the count on a per-game basis; or
    (c) Such students enter through a gate (that is not used by others in attendance) at which a representative of the department of athletics counts them individually with a manual counter, and the representative provides a written statement verifying the accuracy of the count on a per-game basis.

    20.9.9.3.1.2.1.1 Noncounted Students. [FBS] Student-athletes and cheerleaders scheduled by the institution to be at the game and students performing services at the stadium (e.g., concessionaires, ticket takers, parking-lot attendants, ushers, grounds keepers) shall not be counted toward meeting the attendance requirements. (Adopted: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05)

    20.9.9.3.1.2.2 Exchange of Tickets With Opponent. [FBS] For an institution to meet the Football Bowl Subdivision attendance requirements, tickets for a football contest obtained by an institution through an exchange agreement or a purchase agreement with another institution may be used only if sold for at least one-third of the highest regular established ticket price and are used to attend the game. (Adopted: 4/28/05 effective 8/1/05, Revised: 12/15/06)

    20.9.9.3.2 Certified Audit. [FBS] In meeting the football-attendance requirements of the Football Bowl Subdivision, an institution must undertake an annual certified audit verifying its football attendance. The audited football-attendance figures must be received in the NCAA national office not later than the February 15 following the completion of the football season, and NCAA national office staff shall verify compliance with all the Football Bowl Subdivision attendance requirements. The certified audit and materials (including the ticket manifest) must be available for inspection for a four-year period. (Revised: 10/17/05, 12/15/06)

    For baseball in the right field berm, I would sell up to 100 season passes for $75 each. For 30 home games that would work out to $2.50 a game or half of the $5 per game price.

    I would pre-sell another 100 berm tickets per game at $5 each and reserve the rest for students until 15 minutes before first pitch. After that sell whatever capacity is left for $5 each.

    The number of berm tickets available to sell prior to game day can be adjusted based on the number of students actually attending.

    Yet, as BC mentioned on the morning show in Ruston a few weeks ago, people call the station regularly asking how they can get tickets.

    The reality is if you walk up gameday to J.C. Love Field you're going to be able to get in. But the general public doesn't know that.

    The worst thing they could have done before the first home game was announce that the stadium was sold out with season ticket holders.

    The stadium, I thought, looked great when I was there in the mid-80's. Funny thing is I always expected we'd bowl-in the south end zone to close off the stadium on that end and it never happened. Looks like it won't be happening in the north end either at this point. It does make sense to just rebuild the east side stands at some point to rightsize for our target capacity. May also depend on the age/ structural situation which I do not begin to know. Could also attempt to rebuild the west side (likely needs to be smaller than the east side) but the new press box may make that impossible.

Its a 5 hour drive for me from here in Prosper to Ruston one way and that actually doesn't take into account actually getting out of DFW because of traffics etc. I will do it when it is equal to the value of the cash paid. Shreveport is so far up LSU's ass getting causal fans from there may be a struggle but reengaging all of the alumni there is important. Southern Ark and West Miss might be were you could see the biggest growth on a relative modest investment.

    Everything else you have in here and what Friscodawg said is spot on and so easy to fix, yet we don't, we double down on the stupid!!!!
