I think you’re exactly right in all regards. It makes no sense whatsoever why Burroughs does the things he does and doesn’t do the things he should. We'll be fine when we are back in the Southland Lite (C-USA) with Dallas Baptist dominating like ODU has dominated us recently.

By ‘his talent’, you don’t mean Burroughs himself do you? Burroughs lost games the same way last year with bad coaching decision making. It’s just that last year he had better big moment guys that came through in desperate times. This weekend against ODU is lining up to be a complete disaster for Tech.
Yes, I’m referring to him riding the ability of his players. Not his ability to coach.
Like this: you have a clear idea of what the team needs, the strengths and weaknesses of the current coach, and a desire to improve.
We have none of these things
This is what most people don't understand.
We didn't reach a regional based on our coach last year.
We reached a regional based on the on the field players. Wells, Bates overcame A LOT of lame brained coaching decisions with clutch hitting.
LB has always overextended his pitchers. Last year we just had enough hitting power to overcome it.
How many of our wins last year were last inning rallies because somewhere in innings 5-7 LB left a pitcher in too long?
A good coach has to make that call early to limit the damage. Last night by the time the PITCHING coach came in to make the swap, 7 runs were on the board! That is unacceptable.
This is exactly my thought. Not sure our people know the difference between raw talent and coaching when they watch us play any sport. And the one who we hope knows the difference is going to be gone in 3-4 years.
