    GAME DAY vs. DBU

GO DAWGS!!!!!! Time to start the quest for that regional championship!!!!!! If we are "on", we can win this regional. One game at a time, though! DBU beat us in a mid-week match up early in the year, if I am remembering correctly. It was not a run-away, though, and we are playing better right now. I want to face off with Air Force or a tired out UT Austin. Beating UT Austin would be a BIG name win! It all starts with tonight, though, for a chance at that! GO DAWGS!!!!!

Yeah, late March game. Looking back at the stat sheet there were several things that didn't help the cause that night. We had four wild pitches, two errors (both by the battery), 13 LOB, and we struck out 9 times (not a shocker). Looks like DBU tried to help us some too though with their 3 HBP, striking out 11 times, and having 10 LOB. I don't recall how many runs the four wild pitches and two pitcher/catcher errors ended up costing us. I assume it probably helped DBU plate a few though. I expect we will be a much tougher team to beat tonight than the one DBU saw on March 29th.

JJ Marshall (Tech grad) has a good read in the Shreveport Bossier Journal about Tech facing Texas in a couple of regionals in 74 and 80. https://shreveportbossierjournal.com...n-here-before/

The Journal (free email subscription) has versions for several north LA parishes. The Shreveport-Bossier version includes a fair amount of Tech coverage, so you may want to sign up and give it a try.

Can't try to play gorilla ball in Austin -

Have to play station to station baseball - that stadium is a graveyard for long fly balls

Of the first five DBU runs, two scored directly on wild pitches by Martinez and Lancaster. One run scored directly on the two-base throwing error by Jennings after two wild pitches moved the lead runner to third. Another run scored on a fielder's choice after the runner moved to third on that throwing error.

DBU only scored three without the benefit of wild pitches or errors. Tech had runners advance in the two innings it scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch, but the advancing runners would have scored anyway based on subsequent hits and walks. Tech didn't score any runs in the innings that the three HBPs occurred.

Take errors, wild pitches, and passed balls out and it's 4-3 Tech.

Not at much as it used to be. The walls from deep left center to straight left and from deep right center to straight right were moved in up to 15 feet back in 2017. Power alleys are now just 370 and 365. Straight center is still 400 and down the lines are still 340 to left and 325 to right.

Texas is fifth in the nation in home runs (114) and has the number one home run hitter in Ivan Melenez (29).

Jennings has been rolling. If the men can win today. We will watch a fight.

If it's me - I throw Jennings, but I think he will roll with Gipson or Fincher...

In NCAA tourney play - go with your ACE out of the gate

Getting that first game W is huge

Wish I could be there, but I'll be yelling at the TV! I agree but I like Cade when he's angry. His pace picks up when he's pissed. Hope they piss him off.

    Re: GAME DAY vs. DBU

The Bulldogs are certainly capable of winning this game. I think what’s important is that Burroughs be flexible and open minded to play the game it’s going to take to win and not necessarily stick to rudimentary baseball. That means not necessarily gambling the game away with uncharacteristic plays but if the game calls for doing something not so normal for the Dawgs then he’s got to do it. Go Dawgs, eat em up!

Lineup is on live stats. Same as expected with Lancaster as DH. Fincher is starting. Gibson has shoulder stiffness and can't go tonight or likely tomorrow either.

    And confirmed now.
