ESPN signs deal with SunBelt to televise games on ESPN+

Saw this today........ ESPN entered into contract with SunBelt to show games on ESPN+ (through 2030-31 seasons). Financials weren't disclosed but you apparently will be able to watch many (if not most) games on ESPN+. Certainly not as good as ending up on ESPN or maybe CBSSports but would be a good avenue to see Tech if not being televised on other major channels. Makes you wonder if CUSA has such a deal.

Not to worry, Jeepster Judy is working on a deal with ESPN++. It doesn't exist yet, but when it launches CUSA will be positioned to get the "lion's share."

I am glad that we won’t be forced into the Wednesday and Thursday night games.

I hear the deal in the works is with Amazon. They will be streaming all CUSA football, basketball (mens and womens), baseball and softball games. Plus some of the olympic sports, no bowling though. Think Longhorn Network, but for all of CUSA. The deal is almost finalized. Problem is Judy is having a hard time coming up with the money to get the contract signed. Amazon wants so much money to stream CUSA games.

Yeah it's much better to have our games streamed at the same time other schools are playing on tv. It's much better this way. Plus we don't need all that big tv money.

Once upon a time Virginia Tech, Miami and Boston College left the Big East. People said well that's the end of the Big East. So the remaining football teams (WVU, Cincinnati, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, USF and UCONN) signed a deal with ESPN to play football on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Guess what happened? Huge success! Bigger tv money! Where are those schools today?

Big 10 Rutgers (best tv money today)
Big 12 WVU and Cincinnati (next best tv money)
ACC Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse (next best tv money, still in the P5 though)
USF Hired Skip Holtz as coach, program ruined. Not a P5 program even though they have 50,000 students and are in a major market.
UCONN Basketball school. Not a P 5 program. Oddly enough also once coached by Skip Holtz.

Big East football was built on Wednesday and Thursday night. They survived, then thrived and are very happy to be Power 5 schools today. Meanwhile CUSA has the worst tv/streaming contract of any FBS conference and we are falling more behind every day.

Leadership matters with CUSA not having any other than after the fact decline management. Tech’s leadership is clearly pathetic too. I do think this though that AD Wood has done very well of keeping Tech from going completely under. We’ll see if he’s able to get us anymore above the water line this year.

When you were playing football, did you always remember to wear your helmet?

Maybe we should be asking you that same question.

C-USA leadership is nonexistent. Judy proved she was not up to the task within her first couple of years (she has been on the job since 2015), and she should have been fired at least 3-4 years ago.

The fact that Judy hasn't been fired is evidence that the C-USA chief executives lack leadership also. That includes Guice by association.

Guice's Boy Wonder hire as AD barely two weeks after he replaced Reneau was the biggest recent blunder regarding athletics in a long series of blunders that date back to the early days of the Reneau administration (Jerry Stovall comes to mind).

UConn, Temple and USF looking around for their P5 status.

Has he done something dumb? I try not to follow every thought and action within the athletic department, so I really don't know what he has done wrong.

He did get rid of Holtz, which was a good thing (hopefully) for producing a watchable football team.

Pretty sure this was in reference to Les hiring Tommy.

The "Boy Wonder" is currently at Vanderbilt. He was named AD on July 16, 2013, after Guice took over on July 1, 2013. The "Boy Wonder" can't even be blamed for hiring Holtz since that was before his time too.

Don't know why you confused Dr. Wood for the "Boy Wonder" since Wood is older than the "Boy Wonder".

Sorry. Not "hip" to all the nicknames and stuff.

I am glad the new AD is not the one being referenced. Like I said, I don't live and die by whatever happens in Tech's athletic department, but he seemed like a pretty good hire to me and (I thought) things were looking up.

Honestly, I don't pay enough attention to know how old either of them were/are.
