    Some very cool pictures of her in drydock at night have popped up. The last dreadnought, glad they didn't scrap here. There was some talk of that a while back if the foundation couldn't raise enough money.

    The History Guy has a segment on the Texas' participation on D Day. For 11 days the Texas, and the British battleship HMS Rodney, used their big guns to pound German positions. As allied forces began pushing inland the Texas was called on to shell enemy positions about 15-20 miles away. To do so, she had to flood part of her bulkhead to cause the ship to list several degrees thus elevating the guns delivering more range.

    The USS Texas' keel was laid in 1914, she served during WWI and all of WWII. The Texas was the US Navy's flagship for several years during the period between the wars.
