The referees got all wrapped around the axel reviewing the play for targeting --which made no sense at all-- and ultimately ruled it was NOT targeting. But Young's leg was down before his pass attempt, and so was his left elbow. Nobody --not even the TV announcers-- even acknowledged the fact that Bryce Young's leg was ON THE GROUND before his pass attempt.

Mind you, this info is coming from a guy (me) that is NOT a fan of the Texas Longhorns. But even a "UT hater" like me could see that Texas got screwed out of points at least 3 times by game officials yesterday. Here's the play:

    Look at the 0:56 mark:

The best angle for the leg is at the 0:46 mark, not the 0:56 mark. But in that angle the only part of Young's leg above the ankle that might have been down is partially blocked by Texas' #13's foot just as there was likely brief ground contact.

In that same angle at 0:51, the ball looks to be out before Young's left elbow touched the ground. But the exact moment that the elbow hit the ground is also blocked. At the 1:31 mark the tip of the elbow looks to be up at the instant the ball came out, but the rest of the elbow and forearm is out of the frame to make that view inconclusive. Needed a field-level sideline level view from the goal line to really know.

If I am making the original call just based on this clip, Young was probably down. Replay may have had a better angle than any of those shown in this clip, but if not there doesn't look to be "indisputable video evidence" as required to overturn the call that he wasn't down.
