I went back and watched the replays from App St over A&M. Both teams played poorly at various points. The one thing App did was tackle well in the open field. No lowering the shoulder hoping the runner would fall down. Wrapped up around the waist and legs and just wrestled the runner down. Have App State, ODU, Ga Southern, or Marshall had a plethora of injuries from playing a “big time” school and winning? Just have to go out and play. Put a hat on a hat and beat the guy in front of you.

I’m afraid you’re right by a bigger margin than you think. Cumbie’s job of getting the team to play at a higher level is a considerably easier task than AD Wood’s job is to overcome Guice’s ineptitude and get Tech in a much improved big picture football position.
You do have to foster a proper place to appeal to new users. The blame does not fall solely on the athletics. Younger people post plenty on twitter or reddit. And make fun of the way things are here.Opinion alert.

Guice and McClelland are just the end result of poor decisions made before their time. Holtz was just Holtz, he had a low ceiling.
Seriously. Nick Saban could come here as HC and the widespread negativity would prevail.
We have a great new coach who is totally improving our program. Way better than the doofus before him.

Not in my mind. I know Tech’s history. And I can promise you Clemson is taking us seriously today. What a lot of folks within 90 miles of Ruston do t understand is that Tech’s athletics are respected and have a good reputation.

How was this feeling in the fan base compared to how it was at the end of Bicknell and Oakes's reign? Seems like what we need is someone with a personality like Dooley to rally the base.
Dr Wood seems to get it in most areas. As a coach, Cumbie gets it. We will see if the new BBall coach gets it. Softball staff gets it. Can they all overcome Reneau 2.0 in the ivory tower?
