The students pack themselves in there then vanish at half time.

Didn't get to go to game because of family stuff but did make a pass down Tech drive just after half. It was disgusting the number of folks leaving the stadium. If I wasn't listening to radio I would have thought game was over.

You should have jumped out of your car, put on your reflective vest, and signaled the escapees back into the parking lot with your flash light!

Mycoskie mentioned the halftime exodus but charitably implied it was because they thought the game was over.

Actually that's a good point. Do the students know a football game is four quarters?

I think 3rd Quarter had more to do with Grubbs being out and then Carabin getting injured. But they didn't break. I think offensively, coach was coaching like Holtz and playing not to lose, and we got nowhere.

It really does seem like Holtz especially and now maybe Cumbie has this philosophy of not wanting to hurt the opposition's feelings of adding to a Tech lead and building the score too high. I don’t know where this comes from unless it’s the new world order balance of outcomes crap. Sooner or later and more often than not this playing nice is going to blow up in the coach’s face. It almost happened Saturday when Tech’s comfortable halftime lead gradually dwindled to 31-24. After that it was just a matter of one more series going UTEP’s way that they would’ve been more inclined to win.

I don't believe that it was pulling back on our part. Halftime adjustments on their part and a little bad luck (both earned and unearned) on our part.

Exactly. This was not like the crap Holtz did so many times. Again, HCSC said many times last week and again yesterday that the previous turnover mistakes had to be fixed. Trying to pass the ball inside the UTEP 20 was a no go. Yards given up don't show up on the final score. Points given up from turnovers do. UTEP did not score in the 3rd quarter.

Also, if they'd called the obvious facemask when Herbert was trying to catch the 3rd down, we'd have moved the chains on the second drive and who knows what happens next.

I’m glad you pointed that out. That non-call was huge. Without the facemask grab, Hebert might have been off to the races. As you stated, it would have been a first down at the very least if the correct call was made.
