It's very obvious that Lyddy is a much better and "more polished" QB than those other two. And it's not even close. If Lyddy had played the whole game today, Tech would have run away with this game and it would have been over early in the 3rd Qtr.

After the USA game I was actually shocked that Cumbie didn't start Lyddy against UTEP. With two weeks to coach him up that was his chance, especially since McNeil is done after this year anyway.

Tech wins this game today if he had gone to Lyddy instead of Downing when McNeil got hurt.

I do believe you are right about that.

Going forward, I think Lyddy's presence at QB is going to make LA Tech a much better --and more exciting-- football team. He'll improve our offense with his talent, and our defense will get more rest between possessions than they've been getting.

Cumbie threw the game

#2’s (Singleton?) stupid personal foul taunting penalty most likely cost them the game. Cumbie even talked in the pre-game interview about this week they specifically worked on NOT getting needless penalties like this. Just do your job and walk away.

Do players run at practice as discipline anymore or is football too PC and soft nowadays? IF running is still a part of practice then the whole D and especially #2 need some sprints. Once they’re done Cumbie should do a few for some of the inexplicable bad play calls he made. Unfortunately for the team it seems he always makes a few times at key times in the game that really makes you scratch your head.

Every time Rice hit our QB’s it was dirty either low or full body weight tackles but when our guy does an incomplete pass signal standing in their vicinity it’s a penalty.

Undisciplined team. The broadcast team mentioned that Cumbie wants playing for him to be fun. Being on a 2-5 team should not be fun. Winning is fun.

Not sure we run, tackle, or lift. We seem weak. We are always tackling looking at the number on the back of the jersey, our guys constantly get run over and it takes 3 defenders to take down a runner, and we seem to get hurt on every play.

Not having Grubbs and Hebert available hurts. Does anyone know how long they are going to be out? Carabin plays hard, but he just isn't quite as good of a player as Grubbs - although I'm glad he is on the team.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn Rice has a bounty system on QBs. Thankfully they didn't take any dirty shots on Lyddy.

I agree with everyone who says Lyddy is the best QB - certainly the best passer. If Downing was on crutches on the sidelines, he probably won't be a go next week - it remains to be seen what McNeil's status will be.

Other than the losing record, my biggest disappointment so far this year is I thought we were getting a coach with a high-powered, explosive offensive philosophy, but instead of getting another Sonny Dykes, we got Skip Holtz 2.0.

Nope. It was a super weak call. Terrible even. All singleton did was make the incomplete signal.
