This could have been commented on back somewhere in this thread, but did the FIU player who recovered the onside pooch kick come down in bounds?

Anyways, our special teams is the worst it’s ever been, and we’ve never had less talent on defense. A lot of these guys couldn’t make the team at Northwestern St. I can’t count how many balls that were thrown directly to a Tech defender was dropped. If Cumbie turns this ship around in 3 years, he can have any job he wants, but I don’t see it happening. We are beyond terrible!!
Which do you feel was the worse loss? USM or FIU?

As far as special teams how could Cumbie not see this coming, we have been terrible for the last couple of years? Same with the offensive line.

The USM loss was far worse.

Yeah I think so too, no QB, that's embarrassing.

The review angles weren’t great. Obviously they ruled that he did, but I never saw visual confirmation.

If the team doesn't quit, we have a shot at beating Charlotte. 3-9 baby! Of course, we might lose another "heartbreaker" in OT to the Niners.

I still don't see all this great coaching we were told to expect from Crumby. I mentioned it during the Mizzou game. Good coaches have attributes that you see immediately, you can see what they are trying to get done, what they are teaching their players. Now, if the players are really out-classed by the opposition and if the other team, with the better players, actually has a good coach, well, you are most likely gonna get beat. But you...or at least I can...see what your coach is TRYING to do. I liked some of the things I saw last night. On offense I saw a few new wrinkles, but FIU adjusted, and Crumby had no answers to those changes.

As for Lyddy, he locks on to his primary receiver every play and that is it...except once or twice he was forced off his first target and did try to make something else happen. Overall, I graded Lyddy a solid B+ last night. The kid has potential for sure.

Our special teams need their own special "short bus." They are "special" that's for sure.

Miles Brooks #13 played a good game...but PLEASE stop the silly strutting around, posing like you're in a body-building contest. Try to act like you've been there before.

This is the worst team I've ever seen wearing a Tech uniform. UTEP has to be scratching their heads. Of course, they did hand us something like 5 turnovers. But Rice tried to help us too with three huge fumbles. Didn't help...

Charlotte is really, really bad. But they have to have circled our game and are pointing at it as one they can/should win.

    WE SUCK!

It's very close. At first glance I thought his foot landed out of bounds. I'm still not sure it didn't. But, heck, give the ball to FIU at that point. The refs could say to Crumby, you guys are idiots and don't deserve the ball. First down FIU!

Smoke was pissed! and rightly so.

Why is Barnes still kicking at all? No matter the distance, his kicks come out too low.

They all start to run together after a while. Probably the Southern Miss, mostly because at this point I expect us to lose every game.

I'll tell you one thing that is a MAJOR improvement over last year: these guys don't quit. They fight till the end. Contrast that to some of the 4th quarter sideline scenes in previous years when the energy level was zero. As an alum it makes me proud to see our team NOT QUIT NO MATTER WHAT. The Holtz era was just depressing...

    Our future is bright.
I agree Rama Jama. I'm energized and expecting good things from Cumbie and feel an energy in the team. I look forward to going to games again after 4-5 years of reluctantly having to drag myself to games feeling no passion or energy. Had we kept Holtz I wouldnt even have renewed this year. That USM game last year: I dont have words for how dismal. This team does compete, play with stratosphericly more passion. Viva la culture change. Even though this seasons results are disappointing, Winning will come.

We haven’t had much for talent in 3 years. Going to take some time for Cumbie to get some back here. Having a full offseason should help with that.

He had a full offseason this year, minus the time he spent at TT preparing for their bowl game. You think letting him have that time was a mistake?

You might be overestimated any talent wanting to come to such a downtrodden program. This coaching staff is going to have to recruit their asses off to get any good players to come to Tech. And for the lesser talent that we are able to bring in those same coaches are going to have to coach their asses off to make them better. It’s not like we get any 5 stars, 4s or even 3s. This whole thing could be brutal if even salvageable.
