Not according to Dykes, he says they practice that very scenario every Thursday.

They have a very stout defense, but their offense is sputtering. The key to beating LSU is to keep their QB in the pocket and make him beat you throwing the football. I think Georgia has the defense to do that, but can Georgia’s offense score? I hope they win by 50, but I have this uneasy feeling that LSU finds a way to win.

No. TCU wasn't "lucky". They were very well-coached, and it showed. Credit to Sonny Dykes. Their special teams were ready for that 46-yd kick with the clock still moving. And it showed.

It's time for the Dykes "haters" to get a clue, and pack it in. Sonny Dykes' TCU team was just as calm, cool and collected as his SMU team was last year in their late game comeback win in Ruston.

Sonny Dykes is a hell of a good coach.

In the same situation, LA Tech's 2022 team would have had 6 guys drawing a "false start" penalty in that last 16 seconds........ You know it's true. LA Tech can't even avoid a false start after coming out of a timeout.

How are things lining up now? Not sure a 3 loss team makes the play-off, even with an SEC Championship. Maybe next year.

It was a perfect weekend for me, except for Tech. Arkansas, LSU, and ND all lose.

Let me ask you this question about that play. Should the defense have been allowed to substitute players in that situation since the offense brought in the kicking team? If so, the clock would’ve run out. I honestly don’t know the answer.

I thought the same thing. The defense should have slow-walked a couple of D linemen out there. The officials would have HAD to delay for them to get set.

The officials are not obligated to hold play in a situation where time is running out and the defense should expect a field goal attempt by the offense. Here is the text of the Approved Ruling that covers this situation:

Late in the first half Team A is out of timeouts. A pass play on third down ends inbounds at the B-25 short of the line to gain with the game clock showing 0:10. Facing fourth down and three, Team A immediately hurries its field goal team onto the field.

    RULING:
Team B should reasonably expect that Team A will attempt a field goal in this situation and should have its field-goal defense unit ready. The umpire will not stand over the ball, as there should be no issue of the defense being uncertain about the next play.

If the offense had more time on the clock and delayed sending the field goal team on immediately, play would be held to allow the defense to adjust when the offense sent the field goal team on.

This one has been in the book for a while as the Approved Ruling text needs to be updated since it is now the center judge and not the umpire who stands over the ball.

Thanks for the clarification. Still a stupid coaching move.

Don't tell that to LSU, they just got rung up for 50 points. Still over 4 minutes left.

I’m disappointed GA gave up that many points.
