As long as we retain the OC, otherwise he follows him wherever he goes.

Looking back at games on YouTube, it’s sad how, outside of the NWST debacle, we used to absolutely handle FCS opponents. And we had athletes that could line up across from the best on other very good teams and they could win their individual matchup. Will we ever have another Carlos, TT, Sokol, Driskel, Cameron, Dixon, Turner, Robertson, or Sneed? We had so many players for so long that could overcome coaching. It’s obvious now.

For weeks I have been trying to figure out why we were the only division 1 school offering this guy. Turns out he is a friend of the family. At other schools the friend of the family gets tickets to the game left at the will call window. At Tech you are a scholarship quarterback. I sure hope this guy can play.

You make a great and very true point regarding players overcoming coaching which we all knows means not doing exactly what Holtz said do. These are the players who make the biggest difference. I wonder how many really talented players we’ve had over the years who were coached down and ultimately ruined by our former failed coaches.

No more though, Cumbie and crew are going to get it right as long as they coach hardheadedly. This coddling players type of philosophy won’t work for a lesser level school. We’ve got to be the toughest minded and most determined team on the field to start winning again.

I’m projecting a lot of optimism into things to hopefully create an improved vibe for 2023.

I’m honestly worried we won’t have the coaches to coach players up nor the players to play better than coaching

Okie doke! Since even Champ 110 has come down to Earth in a reality check, we can use some "silly" optimism around here. I can't muster the strength to post something optimistic because it grates against the reality I know exists. But...good for you!

We need some more “sunshine pumpers” like 65. Could always count on him to bring a little optimism. For the life of me I can’t get excited about college athletics at all. I wish the P5 would break away and create their own pro-lite league, and the G5 could have amateur athletics again.

I would vote for that as well.

That only works for me if you don’t allow any crossover. Ohio State can’t get 2 easy OOC wins by playing Akron or Toledo.

I could be wrong about that.

I thought I saw a few P5 or good G5 offers in the mix for some of these.
Evan Bullock was a backup QB at perennial powerhouse Allen High School until this past season. Since 2008, Allen has won 5 state titles in Texas's largest classification, including 2008 (5A), 2012 (5A), 2013 (5A), 2014 (6A) and 2017 (6A). They've also produced a Heisman Trophy winner in current Arizona Cardinal QB Kyler Murray, who won the award in 2018. Bullock's mother, Robin Bullock, is the Superintendent of the Allen Independent School district. The school plays its' football games in an 18,000 seat stadium.

I am still here and believe we will turn a corner and start the winning trend again next year. I never judge a coach on his first year. The third year is the true test, but I expect a LOT of improvement in the 2nd. I just don't post as much as I used to post.

There is a ground swell of bulging optimism here!
