This staff has got to realize the importance of beating this group right down the road...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
The team is super young right now, and ULM pitched their starting ACE, while we pitched a freshman.
I'm not so sure people realize how bottom level our softball program got before Taylor took over.
We were ranked dead last in the state in softball. Behind Sunbelt teams, behind southland conference teams, behind JUCO teams! That's how bad it was. In a state that produces softball players like crazy right now, we were scraping the bottom of the barrel. Before Taylor got here our softball recruiting was nonexistent. The previous coach didn't even bother recruiting.
I think Taylor will figure it out, but man was that cupboard empty. Think about it this way...our best softball player right now is a sophomore!
Taylor probably won’t be here long enough to achieve big results because Tech sucks at doing anything well. Sad but true.
Some facts/observations:
1-2 in conference now. Big test this weekend in Miami.
Tech won the regular season conference title last season. All but 2 starters and one pitcher are back--those lost to graduation. No desertions, no transfers.
Deepest we've been in pitching since 2019. Overall depth improved.
Pitching & defense have been very good this year; need improvement at the plate.
Attendance much improved but the Techsters need you at the games.
