Somebody call it: FIRE HESTER NOW!! Otherwise, Tech is headed to another Jerry Lloyd 2-25 season.
There is no chance Hester will be fired right now. Maybe he will find “his” players in the portal and find some gems. He needs to find a genie in a bottle to turn this ship around! It is so difficult to be a TECH fan.
Yep unfortunately we are tied to him, I just hope it's not the over-weighted anchor it appears to me -

He only managed 10 D-1 victories this year

The only first year coach in the last 30 years who had a worse season first season than Hester was Kerry Rupp who went 6-24 overall and 3-13 in conference after inheriting a Keith Richard team that went 10-20 overall and 7-9 in conference...
Even Woolridge managed to pull a 14-13 and 9-9 record after inheriting a 2-25 and 0-18 squad...

Why not? I'd fire him. I can think of at least a half dozen reasons why Hester should be fired. Why prolong the agony? The guy has already proven that he CAN'T COACH a game, and now he's lost 80% of his roster to the Transfer Portal.
I mean, come on people! Just because we've lost everything, it doesn't mean we have to wait another year or two to start making any improvements.

You'll know way before than. You'll likely know by the end of 2023 of not before.
...but our President and AD will still keep him and we will likely have fans taking up for him this time next year.

Coach Cumbie realized what he didn’t have. Our football team was barren of any talent (Holtz had stopped recruiting in 2019). To his credit he went out and brought in as much talent as he could this year.
I am not sure our Basketball team was barren of any talent. Most of it recruited by Hester himself. We will see how he responds. He has plenty of openings. That’s for sure. If Hester loads up (like Cumbie) then he has no excuses in Year 2. If he can’t get anyone, then it will be a long sophomore season.
