I was referring to the panic of Lofton (at the time) potentially leaving, so we hired the guy who recruited him to be the head coach. Seemed like a desperation move to keep him at Tech, which didn't work out at the time, and hasn't worked out since.
Gotta move on asap. There are a thousand good coaches out there that can try and get this back together. This program fell apart before our very eyes over a 4 month span. Dr. Wood needs to do something. Now!
All of you could be right about this coach. I will admit that I am in the "I don't know yet" column, though. I never judge a coach in the first year. If next year is like this one, I am fully on board with all of you though.
I'd like to see what year 2 looks like with Hester before totally freaking out - same goes for Cumbie and the football team.

I'm more willing to give a 2 year pass to Cumbie because he was digging out of a much bigger hole. We were so devoid of talent it's impossible to totally separate out bad coaching.
Hester should have a much shorter leash imo. Next year could be catastrophic.

Even though it was that bad - they still had over a 36% increase in home attendance at Tulsa this year through a 5 win season - that's how bad the situation was he was walking into there...
What did we experience in Hester's first year in home attendance - a 50% decrease?

About an 8% decrease on paper (2,704 to 2,493). Had to be close to a 50% decrease in warm bodies in seats, especially during the conference schedule.
Stewart was on the top of my list to be moving on. Disappeared on the bench for a long stretch, came out and had a stretch of games with significant minutes, and then didn't play much the last 4 games.

Konkol was 5-25! LOL! And two of his wins were against SWACers, those don't even count as real wins.
Hester sucks. There is nothing there, which makes him perfect for the empty suit crowd, i.e. Wood and Guice.
Hester was an employment equity hire, IMO. Had to balance out the FB coach hire.
