Have you considered those Dogs?
I hope he can recruit and bring in his players quickly- maybe even a good assistant. Otherwise, it is going to be very ugly next year- worse than this past year. I guess TECH portal players could all end up in Tulsa. Even Northwestern State hired someone that could use the portal and make them better. Our hire dismantled our team.
Unless something changes dramatically - even though the conference is losing arguably it's 3 best teams in UAB, UNT and FAU - I don't see us reaching 15 wins next year and maybe not even double digit wins...

Talking about coaches: Will Wade has resurfaced - at McNeese!!! https://mcneesesports.com/news/2023/...ead-coach.aspx
Clear evidence that it is a terrible idea to let the players dictate who gets coaching job.
First off, if a kid wants to go into coaching for a profession, I'd recommend getting a college degree in industrial psychology (Jimmy Johnson). The portal and NIL have created monsters.
Whomever helpled the football coach this past immediate portal offseason needs to put in some time in the basketball office making advisements.
Let's go from there.

The best investment a school of our size could make is have a portal analysis on staff. For the foreseeable future, we will live or die on the portal.
As the football coach learned, it is useless to recruit high school kids anymore. You will have a new team every single year. Get an easily installed game plan, load up on the portal every year.
Yes -
The question is how much more would he of won than Konkol and would he of ended the NCAA drought -
My guess - slightly more but how much more? 5-6 more wins in total over 4 season?
I don't think he would of had the 2 mediocre seasons Konkol had where he went 17-16 (7-11) and 20-13 (9-9) which means he would of probably been hired away possibly pre-covid even without making the Dance
Now would of he of made the NCAA? possibly - depends on the horses and luck of the bounce and draw in the conference tourneys
This is May's 5th year at FAU he had never won over 20 games until this year and and up until this year he was two games under .500 in conference play - that said he would of had a much better roster starting off here than what he inherited when he was hired there -
