Bold of you to assume the new one will be better.
Congrats to Dr. Guice! Hope he gets plenty of time with the grandkids. He did a great job at transforming and modernizing the campus, athletics improvements, enjoying 8 straight years of bowl games, and expansion of our presence in Shreveport (so close to getting LSUHSC!).
Now need someone with a vision to get us to the next level, i would say these are the top 4: out of CUSA, expansion of post-grads and research funding, major increases in the endowment, and continued expansion in Shreveport.
As has been stated elsewhere, we need a savvy, successful businessman to lead us.
No high praise from me being this is a sports forum. Guice didn’t do anything forward moving for LA Tech athletics. In fact it’s more the opposite. Are the state of Tech sports better having Guice as the man in charge… Nope!
Jim Henderson despises Tech and will try to sabotage the hiring of a truly capable, competent leader. Henderson will seek to employ some nonsense like "diversity" to avoid hiring someone strictly on merit. It's going to be hard to believe but get ready for a worse president than Guice has been. You have been warned.
I am completely unqualified but I work at a university. Maybe I should apply hoping that they really do want to screw things up. I know how to surround myself with people better than I am. It should be good for the university. Announcing me would be hilarious. People would be upset.
I can be like --- Ted Lasso but running Louisiana Tech.
Is it fair to say that Guice and Reneau both cared about Tech while having no idea how to run the university? I can’t imagine either of them had any malicious feelings when they made decisions. Being inept and inexperienced doesn’t mean you didn’t care. Or am I giving to much credit?
I think both Reneau and Guice loved Tech in their own way. They wanted it to be a smaller regional school and maintain. Not lose, not gain…just maintain.
That’s probably the best you can ask for from the state of Louisiana political world right now.
They aren’t going to appoint a President who is a visionary. Certainly not one who will expand the footprint of Tech any further. I do think the takeover of LSU-S scared them. We can’t have Tech with a foothold in Shreveport.
We've had 5 children who graduated from Tech over the past 12 years. This should have been a time of building pride and enjoying the Tech experience that I enjoyed. It don't think it happened. We need a president who not only loves tech and wants to spruce up the campus through politics (tax dollars), but one who puts the "window" (no doubt athletics) at the top of their list along while instilling passion in those who spent time and invested thousands of dollars while there. I'd love to see a person who can mix with those who can only give a few hundred dollars as well as those with a blue or gold parking pass.
