Sure seems like our injuries and conditioning have gotten worse since Hester departed. We can’t tackle or get in front of the play. We look slow, we look weak, we look tired. Anyone else have the empirical data to confirm or deny my perception?

I would never have even entertained the idea of leaving a football game at the Joe before it was over; then, leaving at halftime became the norm; now, not even bothering to ever show up at all describes my comfort zone.
I remember back in 1988 and 89 when the slogan for Tech football and the intro into the JRP show was “ Hitting the big time!”. We played many teams that were wayyyy better and wayyy more talented at first but the Dawgs kept fighting. First major FBS win was against Baylor. We beat Colorado St ( already committed to Bluebonnet bowl) for the game that would send us to the INDY bowl where we tied a pretty decent Maryland team. Then came close losses to very good Auburn and Arkansas. Lost to eventual national champion Alabama 13-0. Then eventually beat Alabama twice. Then MS St, Michigan St, Virginia. I know I am leaving some teams out. But my point is we were climbing and improving our program and name recognition! Loved the Rattay T. Edwards days of so much excitement!BUT ALL OF THAT HAS BEEN UNDONE FROM HOLTZ LAST FEW SEASONS AND THIS NOW INCOMPETENT COACH! I really feel sorry for all those players that put in the really hard work to lay the foundation for Tech Football in FBS. And those that wanted to keep the program ascending! Unfortunately all that has been crushed by the wrecking ball! I don’t know how long it will take to get that talent, coaching, school and fan support back! I hope sooner than later! Go Dawgs!!
……I couldn’t wait for Saturday. Whole family came to tailgate for hours and stayed til the Alma Mater. We stayed glued to the radio during away games at Alabama, Nebraska, USC, Auburn, and so many more regardless of the outcome.
Nothing unique happening at Ark State, they like most of the rest of us are suffering from an over-saturation of games on TV, rosters looking like revolving doors, NIL where it's more like a professional minor league, and also the sorry state of our nation's economy with high gas prices and runaway inflation. Fans, even diehards, suffer from the lack (gone forever) of the traditions that separated college football from other sports. Fans can't even grow attached to a favorite player because they will sporting another uniform next year elsewhere. Aren't too many heroes like Smoke Harris left in college football. Some, sure, but they are going the way of the dinosaurs. The whole COVID mess sped up this process as fans became disconnected and many have simply not returned.
For us all of that has coincided with a collapse of the program. Now four straight losing seasons has not provided a reason to get excited again about Tech Football. An entire generation of the Tech student body, incoming freshmen in the fall of 2020, have known nothing but a losing program, and no prospects of it getting any better next year. Tis a shame...
We have been slow, weak, and soft for awhile now. We need better Jimmy’s and Joe’s. Does La Tech fully fund cost of attendance stipend? Is the game day atmosphere fun? Is Ruston/North Central La attractive to prospective students from larger metro areas? How do we recruit the players we need to be successful? I know of several kids that took prefered walk-on offers at TCU, Rice, Baylor, Georgia that could have been impact players for La Tech. HC for these kids was a Tech grad and reached out on their behalf. Not a single kid got a look from La Tech, Hell one of the kids has been playing in the NFL for several years.
I plan to go to the Joe on Saturday for Homecoming, but I will not go into the stadium (and I have several free tickets offered to me). The only reason I am going is that several friends from the 80's at Tech are gathering to tailgate and socialize. None of us have any desire to actually attend and watch the football game (Even with a free ticket). That is how far things have fallen.
James Madison 9-0 in football and beat # 4 Michigan St on the road in basketball.
It’s time to pack it in boys. Maybe we can afford tiddlywinks.
I am hearing alot of "I am not going to buy any more season tickets". I am not interested any more. Not hearing of alot solutions to making anything better. Just complain, complain. Is this what "Ever Loyal Be" is to you guys. Just fold the tents. I am as frustrated as you, but I am still supporting Tech. Draft a letter to the AD signed by LaTechBBBs with constructive suggestions. Anybody can whine and complain.
So your suggestions to quit attending football games is the answer. Anytime you want to go talk to our AD or our new President to be, I'll go with you. Posting on this board obviously is getting the program no where. Again, name the time I'll go with any of you to talk to whoever you feel will help our school. If not just give up and go support LSU.
