I gotta say, if he shows half that fire this weekend we might just beat Sam Houston.
Cumbie deserves every ounce of the criticism he’s getting for how he’s coaching Tech or more accurately how he isn’t coaching Tech. To me this all shows part of what Cumbie’s problem is. He can pull a gotcha maneuver on a local sports media person who by the way knows what it’s like to compete for Tech by way of his baseball years, but Cumbie can’t seemingly hold his own players and fellow coaches accountable for their poor performances. The shorter Cumbie’s time is at Tech, the better. In his time here so far I can’t identify one thing that’s improved.
Good. THANK YOU, BEN! Cumbie and his football team need to be called out. It's about time. They are an embarrassment to this university, and I guess somebody has got to say it out loud.
Ben Carlisle called out "Coach" Cumbie on the radio for his repeated stupid play calling, his poor clock management, his repeated penalties and a whole list of other "game management" issues that are plaguing "Coach" Cumbie, his team and our beloved university. And yes, the fans' list of grievances with this team is very long, and all of Ben's concerns are perfectly legitimate.
In short, Cumbie is a VERY LOW IQ coach (I said this at the beginning of the season, and it still holds true), and his team has quickly become a very low IQ team. Watch any Tech game, and you'll see some of the stupidest "Bad News Bears" mistakes by Tech's offense, defense and special teams that you've ever seen in your life. Furthermore, this bunch doesn't seem to learn from their mistakes like other people do. The same mistakes are repeated week after week.
Honestly, I'm shocked that LA Tech managed to hire the dumbest coach in college football. That's really hard to do, folks. The people on this board have been far too kind to "Coach" Cumbie.

I'm pretty sure that Cumbie, Hester, and Wood are doing the best they are capable of doing. The real question should be, "Who the hell is making these sorry-arse hires ??
I’m not sure “coach” can handle the fact that Ben is a die hard fan as well as a reporter. Maybe the reporting at other schools has been done by a disconnected individual who doesn’t really care about how that team performs. I hope to see Ben handle the MBB team the same way.
The worse look so far was someone on Cumbie’s staff going on Twitter by way of an anonymous account to blast Ben Carlisle.
Fox and Ford and others called it out.
We are dealing with children running this program. No wonder they can’t win anything. Just whining like babies.
Does Tech pay the full COA stipend? They are working with what the university gives them. It’s hard to be successful when working with worn out, outdated tools. Has the DAC, South End-zone, or Champion plaza helped improve the state of Tech athletics?
You want to know why the students didn’t pass the last fee for athletics? Has anyone been in the intramural center lately? I graduated in 1996 and the weight room and men’s locker room look almost the same. The men’s locker room/ bathroom is in disgustingly poor condition. The racquet ball courts are in piss poor condition too, how hard is it to replace ceiling tiles? The new pool area has HVAC problems all the time.
Meanwhile Tech's looks a hell of alot better than Arkansas's intramural center.
On the inside or the outside? I cannot fathom that Arkansas could have a worse intramural center in regards to the physical condition of equipment, courts, locker rooms, etc.
