Should the Lady Techsters make a change in their blue?
I don't think many of you understand what that Blue indicates to other teams and people that follow wbb. The Lady Techster name and color are very well nationally known. I have been all for the royal blue color to be adopted by Tech. It is a MUCH better color. There are certain traditions that the Lady Techster's have, though. That color blue and the sleeved jerseys are two of them.
Let's not throw away traditions that they have built, while we develop new ones. Besides, we will just look like UConn with a darker blue.
How about a compromise? What if there were a royal blue outline around the numbers and on the uniform in some places while the Lady Techster blue remained to fill in the letters. That way you keep the Lady Techster color and add the royal blue as well.
I think they need to get rid of the sleeves. It is obvious that the sleeves bother the girls. Most of the girls tie the sleeves up anyway.
As for the color, I've never been crazy about the powder blue, but it is recognizable. Maybe a blend of royal and powder blue as suggested would be a good idea.
However, I doubt anything will change. You never know tho. This is a new era.
Go Techsters!
I like the idea of Royal Blue trim mentioned by Champion110.
I don't know which blue was used on 02-03 uniforms, but I do know that the sleeves are gone. Hopefully, they'll wear a "t-shirt" under their uniform shirt. I'm one of those that don't appreciate the bra shots that the cameramen always seem to capture.
I know a lady law-enforcement officer who spends part of her time catching Internet porn hawkers. But, when she works in her yard or exercises, she wears a sports bra such as women athletes wear AS HER OUTER GARMENT. The Lady Techsters probably should just wear sports bras and forget the silly jersies and T shirts.
They should wear a sleeveless Under Armor shirt and a sleeveless jersey. Under Armor really wicks away the sweat, as do the comparable garments from Nike, Aididas, Russell Athletic, etc. In fact, discount department store chains sell assorted less expensive undergarments of such type that work about the same.
Athletes must be comfortable to perform well. Sleeves, even really lose ones, irritate and distract most basketball players and participants in many other sports.
Let's cut to the chase. They all need the same color uniforms and POSSIBLY the same model of shoe. Sleeves or not ought to be up to the team and even up to the individual player in this case. Nobody practices with sleeves! Why play games with them?
I'm a huge advocate of changing everything to royal blue . . . with the exception of anything Lady Techster. The powder blue with the Lady Techster script is well know throughout the country and has a very rich history. Lets try to preserve the tradition that is already well established!
Teams change colors all the time. Look at the Seahawks, the Bucs and other teams. Even several college teams have changed their color schemes. You want to talk about tradition and the Techsters? It used to be tradition for them to advance beyond the first two rounds, but that's a thing of the past. Maybe with a new color, they'd have a new attitude and start a new tradition of winning.
In college sports, schools have colors, not teams. One school, one color scheme (in my honest opinion).Originally Posted by RougeDawg

And why do you think that is? First, they didn't go to the effort of updating the graphic and it was VERY poor quality. Second, because they HAD the graphic from televising . . .
. . . LADY TECHSTER B-Ball!!!
During the course of the year, the Ladies are on the tube more than any men's sport. Now is there a tie between the ladies being in Powder blue and the logo? I don't know. But even if the ladies stay with the color Blue they are, our media people/person needs to make sure that all televised Tech Athletic events have a CURRENT, ROYAL BLUE logo!!!
TDF
I usually say that the Techsters should get to keep their color if the coaches and PLAYERS want it. Maybe some fans want it, I don't know.
One fact is certain: If current and past players say the color is extremely important then it should stay.
The young girls who might be recruited by Tech are the ones that count.
If current and past players say the color of the Techster uniform needs to be Columiba, powder, baby blue, then it should remain. If they don't think the color helps recruiting, then put the girls in royal NOW.
The main thing I want is for them to display the State and T as well as their cute Techster lettering. The two logos don't have to be together, just both on every item, top and bottom.
Certainly, Techster is fine for people who already know there is only one college whose women are called Lady Techsters. But new people notice such things daily and having them see the state and T also would help in many ways.
i agree with ej, school colors are royal blue. every team should wear the same colors.
This must be a compromise. I just can't believe that some people are willing to just throw out tradition. A combination of the two blues will hurt no one and will keep the Lady Techsters recognizable nation-wide. You don't just throw out the good.
Now will be the time to make it consistant throughout the University. Plus, gives the new coach his own idenity. I hope we go to the real blue.
Does anyone know when the new uni's will be unveiled???
Any pictures available? Just curious and getting curiouser???
