What is the current status of beer and alcohol sales in Ruston? Isn't there some kind of referendum November 5?

Which is the favorite Shreveport casino for Tech fans? I would guess Horseshoe or Hollywood.

There is a newspaper report floating on some other message boards about dicussions by the WAC and Sun Belt over working some kind of team swap. Idaho, Utah State, and New Mexico State for Louisiana Tech, Rice, SMU and Tulsa. Anyone heard anything about this? Hopefully Tech isn't interested in such re-association.

That's funny. Frankly, I don't see how a "swap" could occur without the Universities' agreement, and I doubt very seriously that Tech, Rice, SMU and Tulsa would agree to join the Sunbelt. If, and that's a big unproven IF, there were to start some talk of conference changes, those 4 schools might approach Tulane, TCU, Houston, USM, and UAB to see about forming a more regional conference, but definitely not the Sunbelt.

Judging by your variety of questions in one post and that I don't remember you posting before (could be dead wrong on this), I'm guessing that you're trying to stir something up. I'm not even going to bite on anything except the trade - NO WAY!

Regarding the first question, I was reading the Monroe newspaper on-line this morning and happened across an article about a referendum November 5 regarding allowing high alcohol content drinks at restaurants in Ruston. Sounded strange. Just wanted some information after reading the article.

Regarding the second question, I recently spent the weekend in Shreveport and was just interested.

    No other intentions.

There is a referendum on the ballot to allow restaurants to serve alcohol. Since I don't live in Ruston, that's about all I can tell you.

As far as casinos in Shreveport, I like Harrah's and Isle of Capri. I haven't been in the Boomtown since it bought out Casino Magic.
The Hollywood is a nice boat but I've never won any money there or at Horseshoe.

Seacoast... See http://www.rustonleader.com/a-referendum.htm for more details.

Currently, inside Ruston city limits, you can only buy low-content alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine coolers.

However, less than a 1/2-mile outside of Ruston, in Grambling city limits, there are several establishments such as Rabb's and Mulligans that sell/serve anything you may want.

The main push for this referendum is to allow alcohol sales in restuarants. This should encourage more chain reataurants to locate in Ruston. They have avoided Ruston for the last 10-15 years because of the low-content alchohol ordinance.
