    Why?
1)do you keep hiring your dads coaches and friends from overseas?
2)do you allow GA's to coach positions they have no idea about?
3)are you always frustrated?....are you contispated?
4)don't you pull the players like A.H (WR) who quits on his route?
5)don't you offer scholarships to Blue Chips early in the year?....SMU is cleaning up this year. And we are waiting for the BCS schools to fill up and then let the props come our way! HAHA!
6)did you let ralph davis dictate his Redshirt year and not even use him? Do all players run over you?
7)don't half our players have a heart?
8)do you allow coach hines to run the same $hit and not mix it up more?

Coach Bicknell.....I was hoping you would win the WAC this year and would head for greener pastures. I realize that Coach Hines would have been the next head coach but he is building his grave.

I understand we will have to keep you for at least a few more years but please get some balls and stop letting the players run all over you. If some players quit who cares? YOu are about to ruin everything we have worked so hard to achieve!

It is time to drop the special teams coach and WR coach and shake up the staff now! Please start recruiting more well rounded players who want to play for La Tech!

I'll try to answer for him:

    1) Because I have very little experience and I value my dad's opinion because he was a successful head coach at this level before I was even born. Plus, I have a limited budget, and the guys my dad advise my about are willing to work for peanuts.

    2) See answer to #1---it's all about the cheese.

    3) I am frustrated and constipated because I expect to win these games, and I am trying my damndest to better this team and myself. Players getting open, but then dropping perfect passes frustrates me. Players being blown off the line of scrimmage frustrates me. A very talented QB who makes very poor decisions frustrates me. The constipation has nothing with football.

    4) Because players like A.H. are the best we can get. I have tried others like D.W. and E. F. and A.B., but they can't seem to do any better.

    5) SMU has much more to offer than I do. I coach at a very poor school with very poor facilities and very poor fan support. Considering the above, I think we should be glad to welcome props, because there is no way in hell they would come here if they could go to a better football program.

    6) I won't to win NOW so I can get the hell out of here. I pulled the redshirt off of Ralph because I thought he would give us the best chance to win. I am not really wanting to stick around this place for longer than I have to.

    7) Half our players don't have heart because they are constantly being disheartened by the likes of Clemson, Penn State, and Texas A&M, among others. Going into the season, I think the players showed alot of heart by beating Oklahoma State. After the shallacking we took at Clemson, at Penn State, and at Texas A&M, I don't know if Rocky Balboa would have the heart to try to compete again.

    8) Coach Hines is our offensive coordinator. He was schooled by one of the greatest offensive minds in college football. I am just an offensive line specialist that really has never had any schooling in play-calling and running an offense. I wish Tech had the money to bring in a Rick Leach or a Norm Chow or a Rich Rodriguez, but unfortunately, we do not. I am doing my best with the resources I have.

I just don't think firing Bicknell is the answer. If we could hire a top-notch coach, then we should clean house. But I am not sure Keith Burns or Noel Mazzone or Bobby Keasler or anyone else that we can afford can do any better than what we have. These coaches have proven they are good enough to win a WAC championship. I have thought that the recruiting classes over the past 3 years were as good as we have ever had. I like that Coach Bicknell understands the importance of trying to establish a running game. I like that he went out and brought a top-notch, proven defensive coordinator in here. What I don't like is players dropping passes, quarterbacks making the same mistake over and over and over, and a defense who regardless of who is the defensive coordinator, keeps giving up 35 points a game to mediocre offenses. Bicknell is just a scapegoat for the real problems we have, which are money, facilities, talent, and fan-base.

That is an excellent post. Very blunt, very painful, but very true.

    Horsesh$t.

All those things you talk about:money, facilities, talent, and fan-base, come after a winning program is put together. Sure it is an uphill battle to get there, but we were well on our way when Crowten left. Since then recuiting has gone to sh&t, our offense is slowly getting worse.

How many games against the likes of Florida St., Penn St., and Nebraska do we have to play untill enough money is enough.

    Here is the truth:
You want money and fan base?
Win the bowl games that you go to. Play consistent. Play tough. Tech has an attitude and confidence problem. There is no leadership from the players or coaches on this team. Our coaches couldn't motivate the girl scouts to sell coockies. Untill they start playing like a consistent decent 1-A team, they will not be treated like one. Every team has to start somewhere, and yes it is an uphill battle without a huge budget and fan base. Great example: Fresno State. That is the result of EXCELLENT coaching and recuiting. They turned that whole valley into Fresno fans.

My main point is that your attitude is the same attitude that is wrong with our team. The attitude that, "We can't do it beacuse we don't have the money, the talent, or whatever."
    Bullsh&t.
Thats the reason why our players don't think they can win the big games, because coaches have the same opionins and attitudes that you have.

Did we not have talent when Crowten was here? Ohh yeah we did, with a couple of those players in the NFL.

    In closing:
This can be done, and we were much closer to our goal when Crowten was still around. As long as people have opionins like yours, then we will never get better. And as long as we have coaches that feel the same way, we will be having this argument over and over as you keep making excuses why we can't do it.

Bulldawg1192 is right. This has nothing to do about money, yada, yada, yada.

Look at Tyrone Willingham at ND. His team knows he is the boss and they respect him. They play hard for him and he is coaching the same bunch of losers that have been there before he came.

Apparently he doesn't grasp the importance, otherwise, with a running back who ripped of two long runs of over 40 yards with just 11 carries, he would have demanded that we start running the ball to set up the pass instead of trying to keep throwing with a qb who continues to make mistakes. It's obvious Luke is having a confidence problem as is the whole team. If that is the case, what's the best answer? Simple. Start running the ball. What's the same thing that everyone says when a qb is getting his first start after the main starter gets hurt? Run the ball to give the qb a chance to get the feel of the game. Since we are not going to play Maxie, Bicknell needs to treat this game like it's Luke's first and run the ball to set up safe passes that he can complete until his confidence and his teammates' confidence in him comes back.

Exactly!! Joe should have at least 20-25 carries per game.
