The salary of each of the members of the Louisiana Public Service Commission shall be forty-five thousand dollars per annum, payable monthly on the warrant of each commissioner.

Yeah, this one is ugly. The money being spent is a direct indicator of the power that these guys have if elected. Scary ain't it? I'm not a big Owen fan, but I would vote for a communist before I voted for Cambell.

And, I just realized not too long ago(I'd never really paid that much attention, honestly) but there's not even really a "public service commissioner" per se, like they say in their ads -- there's just a board made up of five folks from the various districts they've drawn up. These guys are battling it out like the I20 corridor district is Chancellorsville.
Do they really carry that much stroke? Well, obviously, I guess. Some how.
