If I were the athletic director, I would remind myself that fans are fickle, and we cannot let the mob rule. I would remember that many sports fans use sports as an extension of their masculinity, and feel shrinkage when their teams lose. I would recognize that the next win is better than a double dose of Viagra for these types of fans.

It takes an athletic director who believes in himself not to be persuaded by a bunch of wanna be coaches who believe that the ax is the best way to turn around a program. I'm sure that Oakes has had a heart to heart with Bicknell, but he has enough sense not to tell a soul what the discussion was about, or even if the discussion took place.

In summary, I would be very disappointed if Oakes succumbed to mob rule and fired Bicknell. Tech cannot get the reputation for firing a coach who only a year earlier won a conference championship. Oakes will correctly stick with Bicknell, and ignore all the self described experts on this board.

Please let us know when it is expectable to come to the conclusion that Bicknell doesn’t have the answers (I guess we can’t count him telling us he doesn’t have the answers). I’m going to go refill my Viagra now.
