    We lost 66-64

We missed probably a dozen free throws. Tiger missing approx. 8-10 himself.

    Way too many turnovers.

The key shots will be done by committee...Wilder took one...Meeking took the other. Expect those two and Felton to take the big shots.

Felton may be the best player on the team.

Zach DNP which was a big reason for the other team dominating the boards- he hurt his toe in practice and told me it was just a precautionary measure and he will be ready for Tuesday.

Marcelle did not dress. Don't know why.

Richard's 8 man rotation that he was using tonight's game to set up will be - Felton, Wilder, Johnson, Meeking, Brown - then Powell, Edwards, Dean.Only seven players played tonight with Dean only getting about 3 or 4 minutes.

Sykes and Woods did not see the court. Johnston was in street clothes again as he will redshirt.

Bruce Edwards may lead the team in blocked shots as he had 3 tonight.

VASDA was a good exhibition team made up of CBA and NBA-D League players but, no excuses, we should have beaten them. They will beat ULM on Wednesday night soundly.

Can't find any stats, but I counted three; however, when I talked to Bruce's Dad at halftime, he already had counted four. Whatever the number, his quickness and leaping ability are impressive.

I made the game last night and here's my take for what its worth:

This team doesn't yet have an offensive "identity". We don't know who to go to in what situation. There is the potential to be a successful offensive unit, but we've yet to find ourselves. However, I will say that I like our prospects better than last year's. Last season, Richard was still seeking different "combinations" half-way through the conference race. As a result I felt like the core playing unit could never gel. This year, he doesn't have as many options--we already know the seven guys who will carry the bulk of the minutes. Consequently, they will eventually learn one another. It will be a process, but I believe a formidable offensive mechinism will develop. Offense, however, will not be the strength of our team.

Tech still can't consistently finish fast breaks. Even if we have a marked advantage (2 on 1; 3 on 1), we blow the lay-up half the time. This has got to change! I don't know if Richard practices finishing the break or what. But he needs to give a full day a week to it so that each player gets comfortable completing a dunk or lay-up at full speed. To get the steal and not the points is discouraging to a fine defensive effort. Plus, it should be an easy bucket. Practice the fast break until everybody finishes consistently!

Meeking shot the turnaround jumper. I believe that is a good shot for him. He even pulled a jumper from just inside the arch and it rimmed out. I hope he is encouraged to take the midrange all season. With Meeking, success breeds confidence--the more he accomplishes, the higher he can excell.

Did ya'll see Brown get the standing ovation from his teammates when he came out midway through the second half? He played a solid game, and nobody notices it more than the team. I'm still touting him as MVP.

If Lavelle can't find his scoring groove, we will have difficulty. I believe Wilder stays confident. But Felton seems a little more testy. He missed alot of easy shots last night. We need him shooting over 50% from the field.

There's alot more to say and you guys may know better than me. But I really believe this team will compete with Florida next Tuesday. I don't know if we will win it, but they will know we showed. I just hope we can out work the good teams even when the shot's not falling.

ULM won by 14 points. But they did not play VASDA.

How did Edwards play? Who played the majority of minutes at the 2 and 3 if Dean only played 3-4? Did Corey play well in his limited time?

This game gave me flashbacks to two years ago with the majority of the minutes going with Tiger and 4 wing players.

A good deal of the time Bruce ran the point with Wilder at the 2 and Felton at the 3. That left Darrian playing the 4 (now I like Darrian but at 6'5 he can not consistantly guard 6'8 players) and Tiger playing center.

With both of the true centers on the roster not playing we got killed on the boards.

Bruce played well defensively...I don't know if he will ever be a force on the offensive end.

Corey played ok...look for his minutes to incease as the season goes on...he's still trying to shake the rust off.

I seem to remember Darrian doing a pretty darn good job of guarding the other teams 4 man last year while Tiger played the 5. Darrian guards much better than Zach and Tiger because he is able move his feet, so I don't mind him at the 4. Besides, after he moved to the four spot our offense starting rocking because we were able to move the ball, instead of having those two big bodies clogging the paint.

Where are you getting we got "killed" on the boards? We outrebounded them by about 14. Darrian is our best rebounder no matter where he is on the floor. We did miss Zach's big body though.

The News-Star got the name of the team wrong. It was Vasda that Northeast beat Wednesday. I'm sure that they pressed them and wore them out. They were coming off of a pretty physical game against the Dogs so I would bet that they were tired.

The guy that was on fire against us had about 20 against them.

So bottom line is they beat a team by 14 that we lost to. Thats not good, although I hear that ULM is looking better this season than last ... for whatever that is worth.
