Does anybody know how many of these games we would have won if the offense would not have turned the ball over? Does anybody know how many of these games could have been won if the defense had a chance to catch their breath without the offense turning over the damn ball 10 secs after they had it? How many games could have been won if the defensive starters did not have to play both special teams and defense for the whole game since the offense can not remain on the field for more thqan 10 secs?

Leadership and discipline would solve those turnover and execution problems.

When the players are out of control off the field, the will be out of control on the field.

The situation is not helped when you look at our coaching staff's combined D1A experience.

Certainly I can share your frustration - and wanting to blame players versus coaches, but even many of the interceptions were clearly the result of going to the well too often with the same play. At the SJSU game last week that was clearly the case on the nail in the coffin interception returned for a touchdown - they'd almost intercepted one on the same play 2 plays earlier and it was just flat out dropped.

Don't worry, Coacheskid. I was happy when your dad came here, and even though his defense has not performed so well lately, I think they had the potential to be a really good defense or at least good enough for us to have won 8 or 9 games. I think they had their spirit broken early in the season and never recovered. I also think that Bicknell didn't want to be shown up by your father's experience and knowledge so limited his effectiveness. Of course, if your father isn't who I think he is, then disregard that last sentence.

I agree. Oklahoma’s defense would have a tough time working with what our offense has given them this year. Most of the scores certainly don’t reflect it, but I believe that the defense has improved substantially over the last year. It’s a shame that the offense hogs the bench.

P.S. – The Co-Defensive Coordinator thing is a crock of s**t. Give the job to Rick Smith.

Not taking up for anybody, but just letting you know. The second time the play was run (the interception), the play was not called. Luke saw the blitz and was just trying to get rid of the ball. He didn't have the time to run the called play.

The offense can be blamed for not producing enough touchdowns in the redzone, but as I've stated before on other threads the defense has allowed way too many points when the opponents start deep in their own territory.

In the ten games Tech has allowed 192 points (25 TDs, 3 FGs, 2 missed extra points) when opponents have started at or inside their own 30. To get the defensive scoring average respectable into the mid-to-upper 20s from 35.7, drastic improvement is needed in this area.

Quick strikes have also killed us this year with 10 TDs on one or two play drives. Six of those scores/drives have been from 20 yards or more. Boise's 99-yard drive on two plays with a 97 TD pass is the latest perfect example.

I still believe Football is a team sport. Our D has NOT played well enough to win this year and our O has not been consistent enough to pull it out like last year. I think our Time of Posession this year has been more even than in the past. I'm not sure which coach is your dad but I hope Rick Smith gets a chance to recruit some players that he likes to fit his scheme and he'll stick around long enough to see it work. I don't believe the first coach will be fired this offseason. The only turnover will be if a coach decides to leave for another job, which will probably not happen.
