SMU 71, No. 15 Oklahoma, 68
December 21, 2002
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Andrea Cossey made a game-winning 3-pointer with 9 seconds left, leading Southern Methodist to a 71-68 victory over No. 15 Oklahoma on Saturday.
The loss snapped Oklahoma's 25-game home winning streak. The Sooners' last loss was Jan. 6, 2001 against Iowa State.
With 30 seconds left and the Sooners (8-3) trailing 68-66, Dionnah Jackson was fouled as she made a turnaround jumper in the lane. But Jackson missed the free throw and the game remained tied at 68.
The Mustangs (5-3) brought the ball up court and called time out. On the inbound play, the Mustangs worked the ball around to Cossey, who caught the ball on the left wing, squared up and sank the game-winning shot.
Cossey scored all 16 of her points in the second half.
The Sooners had an opportunity to tie the game, but Laura Andrews missed a 3-pointer as time expired.
Shanta Ramdhanny led all scorers with 22 points for SMU.
Chelsi Welch had a career-high 18 points to lead Oklahoma. Jackson finished with 15.
SMU's Kim Walter, the team's second-leading scorer, left the game in the first half with a dislocated knee.

Some amazing games today. SMU over Oklahoma, our big win, Texas over Tennessee. Now if only Tulsa would beat Duke. Yeah right.......

Tulsa came up just a little bit short vs. Duke
BTW, have the Techsters ever started conference play 0-1? With the opener at SMU, that looms as a real possibility this year.

I can't remember them ever starting conference with a loss, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I am not too concerned about that. I will be at the SMU game to make sure we win.

Looking back, 90-91 is the only one that look's possible. Was NLU in the ASC -- we left them behind in the Southland right? They beat NLU early, but I don't think they were in that conference. Looks like the first conference game was a one point loss at Arkansas State.
