Comeaux had some very good at bats in place of Berch, Drost & Safford. He absolutely needs to continue playing. Tech has got to find some way to keep its opponents from scoring so many runs per game. This 6 game streak of giving up at least 9 runs per game is really dangerous. After tonight’s bad umpiring I think we’re going to be in for a rough weekend. McConnell for one had at least one ball called a strike against him every at bat which cost him his rhythm.
Third base guy was just an idiot. Home plate guy was inconsistent all night, but on the last K of McConnell he followed him to toward the dugout with his fist in the air. I've NEVER seen an umpire show up a player like that. What a bunch of turds!Originally Posted by Bone_afide_Dawg
Just got email that Sunday game is now at 2pm.
Looks like we should be good for 2:00. Slight chance of showers at 4:00, but no storms.
Friday night's 3rd base guy was as bad behind the plate yesterday as he was calling bases.
Seems like the old rule of thumb about 3rd time through the order doesn’t register with Burrough. We are getting hit all over the yard in the 6th.
Burroughs and a shitty ump letting them hang around.
Burroughs didn’t even have anybody warming up until they’d scored 2 or 3. He’s very slow to get what’s happening.
The worst part is the hit to Turners confidence. His stat line takes a hit as well. 5 really good innings.
Leading 10-1 and Turner looking pretty good, of course, he should start the 6th, even give him a little leeway. But the pen should have started warming up immediately after the very first sign of trouble. Then you waste a little time with the pitching coach to the mound, as much as the rules allow it. He clearly had lost his stuff and they were just teeing off on him with shots in the gap. If a pitcher is struggling a little but it's bloopers and dingers, that's one thing, you might try to save an arm by trying to have the starter complete that inning. That wasn't the case, NSU was hitting rockets!
The first five in our lineup were a combined 17 of 27 with Jorge C. leading the way with 4 of 5.
Beat the other NSU, Nicholls State, 6-4. Any win is a good win.
Meanwhile, SHSU beat the NSU Demons last night 5-2.
